摘要： To provide a photonic crystal semiconductor device which enables various kinds of optical devices having a photonic crystal structure which is readily formed using a semiconductor and a semiconductor manufacturing process, and a manufacturing method thereof. The object can be achieved by a photonic crystal structure, including a lower DBR layer 1, a core layer 2, an upper DBR layer 3, and a dielectric multilayer film 6 which are sequentially laminated from an n-InP substrate 11 side, a plurality of holes 9 formed in the direction of a film thickness in the core layer 2 and the upper DBR layer 3, and a line defect portion 10 with none of the plurality of holes formed therein and disposed between the plurality of holes 9, wherein the line defect portion 10 serves as an optical waveguide.

In the case where a video signal received from the video output apparatus after the compatible video signal information is transmitted is a video signal having a pixel number displayable by the video display apparatus but not being displayable, the compatible video signal information is updated so that setting information for the pixel number of that video signal is included in the second information.

The waveform shaping unit is configured to make a relation between an output of the semiconductor laser and detection values of the detectors approach a linear relation.

Each of the distributed reflector semiconductor laser devices is configured to emit a laser light of a different wavelength from an output facet. The light selecting unit includes a light selecting device substrate and a light selecting device formed on the light selecting device substrate. The light selecting device is configured to selectively output a laser light emitted from a distributed reflector semiconductor laser device. The semiconductor laser unit and the light selecting unit are attached to each other in such a manner that the light selecting device is optically coupled to the distributed reflector semiconductor laser devices.
