    摘要: A glass substrate having the first through fourth thin films formed thereon and a glass substrate having the fifth through seventh thin films formed thereon are bonded to each other with the thin-film forming surfaces facing each other through a seal member that is located at the surrounding portion of the substrates. Seal-portion spacers, which are to be mixed in the seal member, are made of glass beads with a spherical particle shape, and the rate thereof to the seal material is set to 7 to 20 Wt %. Further, the particle diameter of the spherical-shaped spacers is represented by (the layer thickness A of a liquid crystal layer)+(the total thickness B+B' of various thin films located within the effective display area)-(the total thickness C+C' of various thin films located in a seal portion)+(0.1 to 0.2 .mu.m). It becomes possible to eliminate irregularities in luminance in the vicinity of the effective display area, and consequently to provide a liquid crystal display element that meets the recent demands for high display quality of STN color liquid crystal display elements.

    摘要: In a color liquid crystal display device, an overcoat film covering color filters on a glass substrate is formed only in a display part of a liquid crystal cell and its vicinity, and not formed in a seal part and an electrode terminal part. The cell gap near a seal member is uniform, which makes it possible to prevent lowering of display quality such as light penetration and uneven lighting, and separation between the glass substrate and seal member. Moreover, the resistance of the electrode terminal part against flaw and impact is increased, and peeling of transparent electrodes in the electrode terminal part is prevented, so that the productivity and reliability may be enhanced. Still more, if disconnection of the lead compression-bonded to the electrode terminal part should occur, the lead can be compression-bonded to the transparent electrodes. Therefore, the length of the electrode terminal part in the outward direction can be shortened, so that the device may be composed in a compact design.

    摘要: A steering system for a vehicle having a steering wheel, steerable front wheels and steerable rear wheels. The system comprises a linkage arrangement operatively interconnecting the steering wheel with the front and rear wheels for steering the front and rear wheels in response to operation of the steering wheel. The linkage arrangement includes a mechanical linkage mechanically connected with the steering wheel so as to transmit steering effort. The mechanical linkage is provided with a restoring mechanism for exerting restoring force to said mechanical linkage so as to urge the steering wheel toward a neutral position thereof. Favorable returnability of the steering system is achieved in this arrangement.

The shaft assembly comprises a front cross joint coupled to the output pinion shaft, a rear cross joint coupled to the input shaft, and a linkage shaft connected between the front and rear cross joints. A phase adjusting assembly is disposed between one of the front and rear cross joints and the linkage shaft for allowing the output pinion shaft and the input shaft to rotate relatively to each other to secure them in a desired phase.
