摘要: In a financial transaction data processing system, plural host computers maintained by banks and containing bank account information are interconnected by a communications network, and plural automated teller machines are connectable to the plural host computers. Portable data carriers are provided each containing a non-volatile memory for storing money balances. Also, at a wholesaler location or the like, a terminal device connectable to at least one of the host computers is provided. The portable data carriers are insertable into the automated teller machines to transfer money from a bank account to the portable data carrier inserted in the automated teller machine. Also, the portable data carriers are insertable into the terminal device to transfer money from the inserted portable data carrier to a memory of the terminal device. Accumulated transactions in the terminal device are stored on another portable data carrier which is then taken to an automated teller machine to transfer the money from the portable data carrier to a bank account of the wholesaler or the like. Also, verification of the transaction is effected by transmitting data from the terminal device to a connected host computer.

摘要: Liquid crystal is encapsulated between two transparent substrates 16, 17. Pixel electrodes 13 are formed on the inner surface of the transparent substrate 17 in the form of a matrix while a common electrode 12 is formed on the inner surface of the transparent substrate 16. Each pixel electrode 13 is divided into subpixel electrodes 13.sub.1, 13.sub.2. The subpixel electrode 13.sub.1 is connected to the drain of a thin film transistor 21 formed adjacent the subpixel electrode to apply driving voltage to the electrode. The subpixel electrode 13.sub.2 is supplied with capacitance-divided driving voltage through a capacitor comprising the electrode 13.sub.1, and a control capacitor 15 connected thereto with an insulation layer 14 interposed therebetween. Each of the subpixel electrodes 13.sub.1, 13.sub.2 are divided into two domains on which are formed alignment layers 41a, 41b, 42a, 42b, in opposition to alignment layers 43a, 43b, 44a, 44b formed on the common electrode 12. One of the opposed alignment layers is adapted to impart to the liquid crystal a pretilt angle greater than the other alignment layer. One of a pair of adjacent orientating films in the same plane is adapted to impart to the liquid crystal a pretilt angle greater than the other orientating film.

摘要: A color liquid crystal display device comprises first and second transparent substrates, and a liquid crystal sealed therebetween. A plurality of display electrodes and thin film transistors each connected to each of the display electrodes are formed on the first transparent substrate. Color filters are formed on the second transparent substrate such that they each face each of the display electrodes. A common electrode is also formed over the entire surface of the second transparent electrode. The gap between adjacent color filters is closed by a metal layer capable of blocking light. These light-blocking layers overlie the common electrode in contact therewith.

摘要: A liquid crystal cell comprises a liquid crystal sealed between a pair of confronting transparent substrates. A multiplicity of semiconductor driver elements are substantially uniformly distributed over an inner surface of one of the substrates. The semiconductor driver elements have output electrodes connected respectively to matrix element electrodes formed on the inner surface of said one of the substrates. 摘要: For regulating the vibration frequency of a tuning-fork vibrator to a desired frequency, the tuning-fork vibrator is regulated so that its vibration frequency may become a frequency lower than the desired frequency by a predetermined value, and then the tuning-fork vibrator is regulated so that a difference between proper vibration frequencies of both legs of the vibrator may become smaller than a predetermined value, and further, the vibrator is regulated so that the desired frequency may be reached, while maintaining the difference in the proper vibration frequency smaller than the predetermined value. In this way, the desired frequency can rapidly be attained.

摘要: Storm water pumps drain storm water in a pump well. In order to control the storm water pumps, a radar rain gage and ground raingages are set. Measurement data from the radar rain gage and the ground rain gages are supplied to a data processing unit. The data processing unit calibrates rainfall distribution data representing a two-dimensional rainfall distribtuion state obtained by the radar rain gate by the measurement data from the ground rain gages, and forecasts a rainfall in a predetermined time from the present from several sets of the calibrated rainfall distribution data. The data processing unit performs runoff analysis corresponding to characteristics of a drainage basin on the basis of the forecast rainfall to calculate a rainfall flow, thereby forecasting a flow of storm water flowing in the pump well. The data prcessing unit determines the number of pumps to be operated in consideration of the flow of storm water flowing in the pump well, a water level of a water level gauge, and the number of currently operating pumps, thereby controlling an operation of the storm water pumps.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device comprises a plurality of display electrodes which are selectively energized through on-off control of thin film transistors. In order to reduce the channel length of the thin film transistors to increase operation speed and obtain uniform characteristics, each display electrode and an associated transistor source electrode is formed on one of a pair of transparent substrates of the liquid crystal display device, a semiconductor layer is formed between the display layer and source electrode, a gate insulating film is formed on the semiconductor electrode, and a gate electrode is formed on a portion of the gate insulating film between the display electrode and source electrode. Then, ions are implanted into the semiconductor layer with the gate electrode used as a mask, thus rendering portions of the semiconductor layer contiguous to the display electrode and source electrode into ohmic layers. A channel is thus obtained between the ohmic layers with its length determined by the length of the gate electrode.
