摘要： A method of manufacturing glued laminated wood such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is disclosed. The glued laminated wood is made of a number of wood sheets such as veneer sheets which are laminated together by a hot press with a thermosetting adhesive into a continuous length of multiple-layered board wherein the end joints of the wood sheets are disposed in a staggered array. There is provided an initial base material having an end which is shaped in the form of a flight of steps including a series of alternate horizontal surface having a lengthwise dimension smaller than the length of the wood sheet and a vertical surface having a height corresponding to the wood sheet thickness, and the glued laminated wood board is formed extending from the end of such initial base material. The hot press includes a pair of heat plates each having an effective pressing area capable of covering the entire surface of the wood sheet. In hot pressing a wood sheet having on one surface thereof coated with adhesive, a board of the glued laminated wood in progress is placed and maintained for a predetermined length of time at a position where the entire top surface of the wood sheet is kept to be pressed from the top by one of the plates while the entire lower surface of the wood sheet is supported from the bottom by the other plate.

摘要： A water-less PS plate for use in making a water-less lithographic printing plate comprises, on a substrate, a photopolymerizable light-sensitive layer and a silicone rubber layer in this order, wherein the light-sensitive layer is formed from a photopolymerizable light-sensitive composition which contains an urea bond-containing polyurethane as a binder. According to the present invention, there is obtained a water-less PS plate having good resistance to scratch and high printing durability. Moreover, the resulting light-sensitive layer does not get sticky, the light-sensitive layer of the non-image portions is not peeled off during the printing operations, and the lithographic plate shows good dyeability and plate-examination property.

摘要： A process for the production of porous phenolic resin fibers is disclosed, which process comprises graft-polymerizing to phenolic resin fibers a vinyl group-containing monomer capable of forming a thermally decomposable polymer, and thereafter subjecting the fibers to a heat treatment at a temperature high enough to cause thermal decomposition of the graft polymer. The product thus obtained is excellent in heat-resistance and adiabatic property in addition to useful properties inherent to phenolic resin fibers.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a method of holding a veneer sheet which has been dried to a moisture content lower than the fiber saturation point and also heated to a temperature higher than an ambient temperature of an environment where the veneer sheet is held. The veneer sheet is bent in such way that at least a part of the veneer sheet in the longitudinal section thereof along the grain direction is curved and the same veneer sheet in any transverse section thereof perpendicular to the grain direction is substantially straight. The veneer sheet held bent is held for a predetermined period of time.

摘要： A heater for changing a projection distance protrusion value by thermal expansion accompanying electric-power-distributed heating is provided in a head having at least a reading element. At desired correction timing, a changed distance detection unit measures a clearance changed distance in a state in which the head is positioned to a track on the recording medium while increasing the amount of electric power distributed to the heater. A contact determination unit determines that the head is brought into contact with the recording medium when a derivative value of the clearance changed distance is below a predetermined threshold value. A measurement output unit outputs the clearance changed distance detected by the changed distance detection unit at the time of contact determination of the contact determination unit as a measurement result of the clearance between the reading element and the recording medium.
