Abstract: A vehicular collision avoidance system includes a forward-viewing camera viewing through the windshield at least forward of the equipped vehicle, a rearward-sensing radar sensor sensing at least rearward of the equipped vehicle, and an electronic control unit. The vehicular collision avoidance system detects vehicles present forward and/or rearward of the equipped vehicle. Responsive to data processing of radar data captured by the rearward-sensing radar sensor, the vehicular collision avoidance system detects another vehicle approaching the equipped vehicle from the rear, determines distance between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle, and determines speed difference between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle. Based at least in part on the determined distance between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle and the determined speed difference between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle, the vehicular collision avoidance system controls the equipped vehicle to mitigate impact by the other vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at a vehicle and having respective exterior fields of view, and a display screen for displaying images derived from captured image data in a surround view format where captured image data is merged to provide a single composite display image from a virtual viewing position. A control includes a processor that processes image data captured by the cameras to detect an object present in the field of view of at least one of the cameras. During a driving maneuver of the vehicle, the display screen displays surround view video images and responsive to detection of the object, the display screen displays an enlarged view of the detected object.

Abstract: A collision avoidance system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at a vehicle, and an electronic control unit that includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the cameras. A plurality of other sensors sense at least one of rearward and sideward of the equipped vehicle and capture sensor data. The collision avoidance system may determine imminence of collision with the equipped vehicle by another vehicle present exterior the equipped vehicle responsive at least in part to (a) image processing by the image processor of image data captured by a forward-viewing camera, a rearward-viewing camera, a driver side-viewing camera and/or a passenger side-viewing camera, and (b) radar data sensed by the plurality of other sensors, lidar data sensed by at least one lidar sensor of said plurality of other sensors and/or information transmitted to or from the equipped vehicle via a car2car (v2v) communication system.

Abstract: A collision avoidance system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view exterior of and rearward of the vehicle. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the collision avoidance system is operable to determine an approach of a vehicle rearward of the vehicle and to determine an excitation level depending on a difference between the speed of the approaching vehicle and the speed of the equipped vehicle and a distance between the approaching vehicle and the equipped vehicle. Responsive to the determined excitation level, the collision avoidance system may provide an alert to the driver of one or both vehicles, prepare for impact, control a vehicle braking system, vehicle steering system and/or vehicle acceleration system and/or communicate information to the approaching vehicle via a telematics system.

Abstract: A vehicular collision avoidance system includes a first image processor that processes image data captured by a forward-viewing camera to detect vehicles and determine vehicles present in the occupied lane and adjacent lane, and a second image processor that processes image data captured by a rearward-viewing camera to detect the presence of vehicles and determine vehicles present in the occupied lane and adjacent lane. Information relating to the vehicles is wirelessly transmitted between the vehicles. Responsive at least in part to at least one of (i) image processing of image data captured by the forward-viewing camera and/or rearward-viewing camera, (ii) sensor data sensed by at least one other sensor, and (iii) information transmitted to or from the equipped vehicle via the car2car (v2v) communication system, the collision avoidance system is operable to determine imminence of collision with the equipped vehicle by another vehicle present exterior the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A collision avoidance system for use in a vehicle includes a forward-viewing camera and a rearward-viewing camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the system detects the presence of vehicles present ahead of the equipped vehicle and in the traffic lane the equipped vehicle is driving in and in an adjacent traffic lane that is adjacent to the traffic lane the equipped vehicle is driving in. Responsive to image processing of image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera, the system determines imminence of a rear impact with the equipped vehicle by another vehicle and the system controls a steering system to move the equipped vehicle to the adjacent traffic lane provided the portion of that adjacent lane the equipped vehicle is to move to is unoccupied by a vehicle ahead of, adjacent to or behind the equipped vehicle.
