Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to novel molecules capable of, inter alia, modulating apoptosis in mammalian cells and to genetic sequences encoding same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a novel member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins, referred to herein as “Bim”, and to genetic sequences encoding same. The molecules of the present invention are useful, for example, in therapy, diagnosis, antibody generation and as a screening tool for therapeutic agents capable of modulating physiological cell death or survival and/or modulating cell cycle entry.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to novel molecules capable of, inter alia, modulating apoptosis in mammalian cells and to genetic sequences encoding same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a novel member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins, referred to herein as “Bmf”, and to genetic sequences encoding same and to regulatory sequences such as a promoter sequence directing expression of Bmf. Bmf comprises a BH3 domain which facilitates interaction to pro-survival Bcl-2 family members thereby triggering apoptosis. Bmf is regarded, therefore, as a BH3-only molecule. The molecules of the present invention are useful, for example, in therapy, diagnosis, antibody generation and as a screening tool for therapeutic agents capable of modulating physiological cell death or survival and/or modulating cell cycle entry. The present invention further contemplates genetically modified animals in which one or both alleles of Bmf are mutated or partially or wholly deleted alone or in combination with a mutation in one or both alleles of another Bcl-2-type molecule such as but not limited to Bim. The genetically modified animals are useful inter alia in screening for agents which ameliorate the symptoms of diseases caused by defects in apoptosis or which specifically promote apoptosis of target cells.
Abstract:
Embodiments relate to magnetoresistive (MR) sensors, sensor elements and structures, and methods. In particular, embodiments relate to MR, such as giant MR (GMR) or tunneling MR (TMR), spin valve layer systems and related sensors having improved stability. Embodiments include at least one of a multi-layer pinned layer or a multi-layer reference layer, making the stack more stable and therefore suitable for use at higher temperatures and magnetic fields than conventional systems and sensors.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a machine tool comprising an electric motor (2) which serves to drive a tool and which has an adjustable, electric brush arrangement (3), and comprising a mode selector switch (6) having various switch positions. Provision is made for an adjusting device (8) to displace the brush arrangement (3) as a function of the switch position of the mode selector switch (6). Furthermore, the invention relates to a corresponding method.
Abstract:
A hand-held power tool, in particular a rotary hammer, is indicated that includes a machine housing (10) with a tool fitting (12) integrated therein, the tool fitting (12) being rotatably drivable in a first mode and being non-rotatably fixable on the machine housing (10) in a second mode, and that includes a duty-type switch (20) with a coupling element (21) capable of being displaced to activate the modes, and an actuating element (22) that induces its displacement. To prevent maloperation and resultant damage to the machine when the operator switches between modes, the actuating element is designed as an electrical actuator (23), preferably as an electromagnet (25) controlled by an electronic control unit (24).
Abstract:
In a multi-chamber device a chamber with lubricant is sealed off on a rotationally drivable component from a second chamber at a peg of a power tool, by at least one seal sliding at a contact face, and least one stationary component is provided in the chamber with lubricant before the contact face and surrounds a rotationally drivable component at least over a region of a circumference to substantially prevent turbulence in the lubricant in a region of the contact face.
Abstract:
The present invention is based on a method for operating a guided power tool (10), in particular an electric power tool, with a rotatably and/or percussively driven insert tool (36), whereby the insert tool (36) is driven into a work piece (34) in a work process. It is proposed that at least one measured signal detected at the power tool (10) during the work process is evaluated to derive a property of the work piece (34) located in the working direction of the insert tool (36), and the power tool (10) is operated in accordance with the property. A guided power tool is also proposed.
Abstract:
A supplemental handle for a hand-held machining tool (18), has at least one grip element (10, 12, 14, 16) that is connectable with a housing (26) of the hand-held machine (18) by means of an insulating device (20, 22, 24) for insulating oscillations. The insulating device (20, 22, 24) includes at least one bearing unit (28, 30, 32, 34), and the grip element (10, 12, 14, 16) is guided in at least one direction by means of the bearing unit (28, 30, 32, 34). The bearing unit (28) has at least one bearing bolt (26), about which the grip element (10, 12) is pivotable. The insulating device may include at least one torsion spring.
