    摘要: An ocular device applicator that is a combined delaminating and inserting device configured to partially delaminate the corneal epithelium and to place a corrective ocular device onto the delaminated cornea under the partially delaminated epithelium. The ocular device applicator leaves at least a portion of the delaminated corneal epithelium attached to the cornea. The ocular device applicator comprises an edge and an ocular device holder. In some versions an ocular device may be secured in and/or released from the device by force applied in the holder, or by a releasable adhesive. The ocular device applicator may be oscillated to facilitate delamination of the corneal epithelium and placement of an ocular device.

    摘要: An implantable stimulator includes a base, two prongs extending from the base and an electrode disposed on each of the prongs. This stimulator may be part of a system that includes an external device for transcutaneously communicating with the implanted stimulator. A method of using the implantable stimulator includes generating a current gradient between the electrodes on the two prongs to stimulate a target site in a patient. A method of making the implantable stimulator includes coating electrode material on the prongs except where the electrode surfaces are to be formed.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for delivering stents or stent segments to body lumens include one or more tubular prostheses carried at the distal end of a catheter shaft, a sheath slidably disposed over the prostheses, and a guidewire tube extending from within the sheath to the exterior of the sheath through an exit port in a sidewall thereof. A guidewire extends slidably through the guidewire tube. The sheath can be moved relative to the catheter shaft and the guidewire tube to expose the prostheses for deployment. Mechanisms are described for measuring the distance that the sheath is moved relative to the catheter shaft and/or the guidewire tube, or for counting the number of stents exposed and/or deployed by operation of the device.     摘要: The invention provides a surgical clip for use in conjunction with a clip applier. The clip may be closed in a curved shape, has improved gripping capabilities, and maximizes the gripping surface relative to clip size. The clip preferably includes a longitudinal channel through the gripping surfaces of the clip legs, the channel having at least one sidewall inclined to form an undercut, such that the channel is wider at its floor than at its opening in the gripping surface. The clip further may have one leg longer than the other such that the clip may be closed in a curved shape with the legs parallel and the tips of the legs substantially even. The clip may also have one or more inverse arcuate portions on at least one of its legs to improve the tightness of clip closure.

    摘要: According to the present invention, improved apparatus and methods are provided for applying surgical clips to body tissue in inaccessible places and at various angles with particular usefulness in laparoscopic surgery. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end; means for advancing clips along the shaft toward the distal end with the legs of the clip oriented in a distal direction; means at the distal end of the shaft for rotating the clips relative to the shaft to orient the legs in a lateral direction and means for closing the legs of the clips after the rotation. The means for advancing usually comprises a movable belt disposed in the shaft having a plurality of retainers for holding clips; means for closing typically includes an anvil mounted at the distal end of the shaft and a hammer movable against the anvil. In another embodiment the apparatus further comprises means disposed at the proximal end of the shaft for actuating the hammer, which usually consists of a trigger pivotally mounted to a handle. In an exemplary embodiment, the trigger is ratcheted in stages, wherein one stage advances a clip, a second stage rotates a clip and a third stages closes a clip.
