Abstract:
Process for preparing a flavoring composition suitable as a butter flavor block by subjecting triglyceride fats, fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives to oxidizing conditions, comprising: (a) admixing an anti-oxidant to triglyceride fats, fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives at least to a concentration which is sufficient to increase the induction period of the fat by a factor of 1.5, (b) heating the mixture for 0.5 hours-1 week at 50.degree.-150.degree. C. under access of atmospheric oxygen and in the presence of water, under the condition that the triglyceride fats, fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives contain at least one poly-unsaturated fatty acid with an omega-3 non-conjugatable double bond system in an amount of >0.01 wt. %. Such fatty acids or derivatives of fatty acid are preferably obtained by partially hydrogenating a natural vegetable glyceride fat.
Abstract:

Abstract:
In accordance with the invention, an optical fiber communication system is provided with a tunable linearly chirped Bragg grating in high birefringence fiber for reduction of polarization mode dispersion without increasing chromatic dispersion. A first embodiment using a single grating can be tuned for optimal PMD compensation, optimal chromatic compensation or optimal simultaneous compensation. Alternative embodiments using a plurality of gratings permit simultaneous compensation of both PMD and chromatic dispersion.
Abstract:
A method for correcting the phase of a clock in a data receiver which receives a data flow representing different signal levels with logical high and low signal values and signal transitions positioned therebetween, wherein the positions of such signal transitions between respective two adjacent logical signal values are evaluated for correcting the phase of the clock. The position of a signal transition between a first pair of signal values on one level (11) or a second pair of signal values on the other level (00) is weighted stronger in the evaluation then the positions of signal transitions between adjacent single signal values (1,0) of different signal levels.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for wavelength stabilizing for multichannel optical transmission systems. An optical multiplexer is used directly for the generation of the optical total signal. This makes possible a simple electronic regulation of wavelengths of the optical carrier signals through analysis of the amplitude values of low-frequency signals, which modulate the optical carrier signals by means of amplitude modulation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for the production of amphiphilic products such as esters, sugar-esters, peptide-esters, glycolipids, glycoproteins, lipoproteins, peptides, and phosphates of alcohols, sugars, and nucleosides. The methods promote enzymatically catalyzed reactions between hydrophilic substrates such as glycerol, glucose, amino acids, and nucleosides, and second substrates such as free fatty acids, triglycerides, vinylesters, amino acids, and phosphates. The method is also applied to enzymatic reactions with saccharides and polyalcohols. The hydrophilic substrates are adsorbed to finely divided solid supports such as silica gel, diatomaceous earths, or activated charcoals in order to promote the dispersion of the hydrophilic substrates within hydrophobic substrates and solvents. Hydrophobic solvents such as n-hexane and t-butylmethylether may be included in the reaction mixtures.Reactions are conducted under non-aqueous conditions in order to promote reverse hydrolysis. Methods are provided for the production of isomerically pure 1,3-diglycerides. Further methods are disclosed for the production and specific precipitation of pure 1-monoglycerides through the use of a reactor/separator system. Enzymes used in the methods include lipases from M. mihei and P. fluorescens, glycosidases such as .beta.-galactosidase, proteases such as chymotrypsin, and acid or alkaline phosphatases. Compositions are provided comprising alcohols, carbohydrates, amino acids, or peptides adsorbed onto solid supports such as silica gel.
