摘要: An oxidation catalyst is prepared by pyrolyzing a source of iron and a source of nitrogen on a carbon support. Preferably, a noble metal is deposited over the modified support which comprises iron and nitrogen bound to the carbon support. The catalyst is effective for oxidation reactions such as the oxidative cleavage of tertiary amines to produce secondary amines, especially the oxidation of N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid to N-(phosphonomethyl)-glycine.

摘要: A dual function catheter handle is provided for simultaneous movement of two control wires. The catheter handle has a handle housing having proximal and distal ends and a generally hollow interior. A core is mounted in the interior of the handle housing, the core having a longitudinal slot therethrough. A first moveable member is provided with a proximal end mounted in the interior of the handle housing and a distal end extending outside the handle housing. The first moveable member is longitudinally moveable relative to the handle housing. A second moveable member is mounted in the longitudinal slot of the core and is longitudinally moveable relative to the core and handle housing. The second moveable member has a threaded surface. A rotatable member is mounted on the handle housing. The rotatable member has a threaded inner surface that mates with the threaded surface of the second moveable member so that rotation of the rotatable member causes longitudinal movement of the second moveable member. The first moveable member and second moveable member are capable of simultaneously moving proximally relative to the handle housing.

摘要: Dual-wavelength operation is easily achieved by biasing the gain section. Multiple gratings spaced apart from each other are separated from an output aperture by a gain section. A relatively low coupling coefficient, κ, in the front grating reduces the added cavity loss for the back grating mode. Therefore, the back grating mode reaches threshold easily. The space section lowers the current induced thermal interaction between the two uniform grating sections, significantly reducing the inadvertent wavelength drift. As a result, a tunable mode pair separations (Δλ) as small as 0.3 nm and as large as 6.9 nm can be achieved.

摘要: A surgical stapler including a hollow shaft and a tube slidable axially within the shaft between a forward position, where one end of the tube projects beyond a free end of the shaft to enter a puncture site in a blood vessel and a rearward position, where the end of the locator tube is retracted within the shaft. A surgical staple straddles the tube and is slidable thereon forwardly towards an anvil against which the staple may be deformed to staple together the opposite edges of the puncture site. A cam mechanism drives the staple forwardly along the tube into deforming engagement with the anvil and at the same time retracts the tube into the shaft in time to allow the legs of the staple to close onto the puncture site.

In one embodiment of the invention, the tabs comprise at least two layers attached to one another along at least one side of the two layers such that an axial opening is created between the layers. A rigid insert, such as a bracket, may be inserted into the axial opening so as to facilitate mounting the tab inside a vehicle.

摘要: Methods and devices are provided for closing a puncture wound. In one exemplary embodiment, a puncture closure device is provided having an elongate tubular body that is disposable through a puncture in tissue and that includes proximal and distal portions. The proximal portion can be adapted to expand to form proximal wings upon rotation of the elongate tubular body, preferably in a first direction. The distal portion can be adapted to expand to form distal wings upon rotation of the elongate tubular body, preferably in a second, opposite direction. The proximal and distal portions can also be adapted to be moved toward one another as they expand upon rotation. As a result, the proximal and distal wings can engage tissue therebetween.

The electroplating may also include electrically connecting the conductive pattern to an electrical component. Conductive ink, such as ink including carbon particles, may be selectively placed on the conductive substrate to facilitate plating of the desired pattern and/or to facilitate separation of the pattern from the substrate. An example of a conductive pattern is an antenna for a radio-frequency identification (RFID) device such as a label or a tag. One example of an electrical component that may be electrically connected to the antenna, is an RFID strap or chip.
