摘要： A cooler for an electrical component, including a pressure-tight vessel enclosing the electrical component and including a support plate above the electrical component, a bath of electrically insulating and evaporating liquid surrounding the electrical component within the vessel, a flow channel for cooling liquid on the support plate, and a heat exchange element. The heat exchange element includes a serpentine plate having generally horizontally extending and aligned flanks alternately connected along horizontally extending upper and lower edges, with the lower edges being connected by connectors spaced along the horizontally extending edges and the upper edges being connected by horizontally extending crests secured to the flow channel for heat conduction therebetween. The flow channel may define a U-shaped path with two channel legs connected at one end, with a cooling liquid inlet connected to one of the channel legs and a cooling liquid outlet connected to the other of the channel legs. The connectors connecting the lower edges of the flanks are defined between cutouts extending minimally into the flanks, and no more than ¼ of the height of the flanks. The flanks define surfaces sloped no more than about 20° from vertical.

摘要： An exhaust gas heat exchange system for an internal combustion engine (10) includes an intake manifold (12) including an inlet (16) for recirculating exhaust gases and an exhaust manifold (28) having at least one inlet (30) for receiving exhaust gas from the engine (10) and an outlet (36), (60), for discharging exhaust gas and spaced from the inlets (30). An exhaust gas heat exchanger (32) includes a first flow path having an inlet (50) connected to the exhaust manifold (32) to receive exhaust gas therefrom, an outlet (52) for discharging cooled exhaust therefrom and a second flow path in heat exchange relation with the first flow path for receipt of a coolant whereby exhaust gas flowing in the first flow path may be cooled. An exhaust valve (32) has a first inlet (44) connected to the first flow path of the heat exchanger (32), a second inlet (47) connected to the exhaust manifold (28) and an outlet (48) connected to the intake manifold (12) together with a valve mechanism having at least one movable component (56) movable between positions connecting the first inlet (44) and the outlet (48) and connecting the second inlet (47) and the outlet (48). An actuator (76) is connected to the exhaust valve (32) for operating the same.

摘要： A heat exchanger with a plurality of stacked flat tubes and a collecting tank having a wall extending around the entire periphery of, and connected to, the end of the stacked flat tubes. A first medium may be distributed through the collecting tank and flat tubes. Internal inserts are in the flat tubes, with the inserts being bonded between the broad sides of the tubes and, in the region of connection of the tubes to the collecting tank, being configured to compensate for length changes in the stacking direction caused by temperature changes, as by recesses in connectors such as wave flanks or by corrugated wave flanks. The flat tubes with inserts such as described may be separately provided for use in manufacture of heat exchangers.

摘要： A catalytic reactor/heat exchange device (10) is provided for generating a catalytic reaction in a reaction fluid flow (12) and transferring heat to a cooling fluid flow (14). The device includes reaction flow channels (20) with turbulators (30) therein. The turbulators (30) include an initial portion (40) and a selected portion (34) that includes a catalytic layer or coating (36) to initiate the desired catalytic reaction at a location (38) located downstream from the initial portion (40). In some preferred forms, each of the selected portions (34) of the turbulators (30) include at least one downstream section (103, 120) wherein the heat transfer performance has been intentionally reduced to improve performance of the device (10) during start up conditions.

Each heat exchanger has a plurality of tubes extending between an inlet header and an outlet header, with the headers extending generally in the same direction as the fan axis. A system inlet is connected to the inlet headers and a system outlet is connected to the outlet headers, whereby the length of the connection between each heat exchanger and the system outlet and system inlet is generally the same for each heat exchanger.
