Abstract: A short circuit current interruption method of a battery system including: stacking a plurality of prismatic battery cells and connecting the plurality of prismatic battery cells with a parallel connection bus bar in parallel to form a battery block, wherein a sealing plate of the prismatic battery cell is a plate material having flexibility that deforms when an internal pressure rises due to an internal short circuit, and when a rise in the internal pressure due to the internal short circuit of the prismatic battery cell causes deformation, the deformation of the sealing plate is detected, and when an amount of deformation exceeds a setting value, the short circuit current of the battery connected in parallel with the internally short circuited battery is interrupted.

Abstract: A battery system includes a battery block having a plurality of square battery cells (1) stacked in one direction, parallel connection bus bars (5X), insulating plate (7), and lid plate (8) fixed to insulating plate (7). Each square battery cell (1) has a discharge port provided with discharge valve (14) and a sealing plate provided with positive and negative electrode terminals via an insulating material. Parallel connection bus bars (5X) are connected to the electrode terminals to connect some or all of square battery cells (1) in parallel. Insulating plate (7) is disposed on the surfaces of sealing plates of the plurality of square battery cells (1) and includes passing portions having openings provided at positions corresponding to the discharge ports to pass the exhaust gas ejected from the discharge ports and pressing portions (22) disposed between parallel-connection bus bars (5X) and the sealing plates. Lid plate (8) faces discharge ports facing the openings of the passing portions.

Abstract: A power supply device includes secondary battery cells disposed adjacent to each other and a separator that is interposed between the secondary battery cells adjacent to each other. The separator is made of a flexible material that has both a heat insulating property and restoring force such that the separator deforms when being pressed by each of the secondary battery cells and recovers an original shape of the separator. This configuration provides an improved heat insulating property between the secondary battery cells and prevents thermal propagation caused by thermal runaway. At the same time, this allows the separator to adapt to deformation of a secondary battery cell that has thermally swelled. In response to contraction of the swelled battery, the separator recovers its original shape to maintain a mechanical pressing force. This allows the power supply device to provide increased mechanical stability and maintain resistance to vibration and impact.

Abstract: A battery pack includes a battery unit including rectangular secondary batteries, each including a sealing plate and positive and negative electrode terminals attached to the sealing plate; a bus bar that connects the rectangular secondary batteries together in parallel; an insulating plate disposed between the sealing plates of the rectangular secondary batteries and the bus bar; and a short-circuit breaking portion that interrupts an electric conduction path between the rectangular secondary batteries connected in parallel by allowing each sealing plate to bulge outward in response to an internal pressure rise of the battery to push up the insulating plate and the bus bar. A portion of each sealing plate that bulges most protrudes outward by greater than or equal to 1.5 mm from an outer peripheral edge of the sealing plate when a pressure in the corresponding rectangular secondary battery reaches the operating pressure of a gas release valve.

Abstract: A battery system incudes battery stack formed by stacking a plurality of battery cells and cooling plate thermally coupled to battery cell of battery stack. Heat insulating material is disposed between battery cells of battery stack, which are adjacent to each other, and heat insulating material insulates heat between battery cells adjacent to each other. In addition, cooling plate cools battery cell, is used in combination with an endothermic material having heat capacity to absorb thermal runaway energy of battery cell, and prevents induction of thermal runaway.
