摘要: Adsorbent composites composed of microparticulate zeolites at least 90% of whose particles have a characteristic particle dimension not greater than about 0.6 micron and a macropore inert binder. The composites are useful for separating strongly adsorbed gas components from gas mixtures. Microparticulate type X zeolites composites are particularly useful for separating nitrogen or carbon dioxide from air.

摘要: Substantially all of the carbon dioxide is removed from a gas containing up to about 1% by volume carbon dioxide by subjecting the gas to a pressure swing adsorption process using as the adsorbent a single layer of zeolite having a silicon to aluminum atomic ratio in the range of 1.5 to 70. The process is particularly suitable for removing substantially all carbon dioxide and water vapor contained in air prior to subjecting the air to cryogenic distillation.

摘要: A mechanism used in connection with determining a time resolved interaction between a target substance, for instance, an adsorbent and at least one agent, for instance, an adsorbate capable of interacting with the target substance. In accordance with the method the target substance and agent(s) are introduced into a sample vessel. At the same time, the target substance is oscillated within the sample vessel without changing the volume of the sample vessel. A concentration of one or more components associated with the time resolved interaction as a function of time is measured by measuring chamber pressure and simultaneously performing a mass spectroscopical analysis of chamber content at discrete time intervals. The target substance is oscillated by a mechanical movement which oscillates a sample holder configured to hold the target substance. The movement has a finger-like member, preferably formed by welded steel bellows and a curved member rotating within the finger-like member so that motion of the finger-like member does not change chamber volume and therefore effect the pressure measurements that are to be made in accordance with the method.

摘要: An air shot or priming mechanism for an injection pen. The injection pen comprises a cartridge-holder and a housing. The cartridge-holder interacts with a nut-member capable of driving the piston rod forward when relatively rotated. The cartridge-holder is rotational coupled to the housing such that rotation of the cartridge-holder relatively to the housing causes the nut-member and the piston rod to rotate relatively, thus the relative angular rotation between the cartridge-holder and the housing determines the size of the air shot so performed.

摘要: Acetylene is stored at elevated pressure by charging with acetylene at elevated pressure a pressure vessel (typically a gas cylinder) containing carbonaceous adsorbent able reversibly to adsorb acetylene. The adsorbent has: (a) a specific micropore volume equal to or greater than 0.5 cm.sup.3 /g; (b) a specific mesopore volume equal to or greater than 0.5 cm.sup.3 /g; (c) a bulk density equal to or greater than 0.25 g/cm.sup.3 ; and (d) a surface area per volume equal to or greater than 400 m.sup.2 /cm.sup.3. Alternatively or in addition to (a) and (b) above, the specific volume of pores having a diameter in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 nm is equal to or greater than 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g, but the sum of the specific mesopore volume and the specific micropore volume should always be equal to or greater than 1.0 cm.sup.3 /g. Preferably, at least 75% of the specific mesopore volume is contributed by mesopores having a diameter in the range of 2 to 5 nm and at least 90% of the micropores have a diameter of at least 0.4 nm. The adsorbent is typically in a free-flowing or monolithic form.

摘要: Zeolites exchanged with lithium ions and, optionally, with polyvalent cations are prepared by ion-exchanging a sodium-containing zeolite, a potassium-containing zeolite or a sodium- and potassium-containing zeolite with ammonium ions, thereby replacing the sodium and/or potassium ions with ammonium ions, and then reacting the ammonium ion-exchanged zeolite with a water-soluble lithium compound under conditions which result in the removal of ammonia from the reaction zone. Polyvalent ions, which may be present in the zeolite undergoing ion-exchange, will not be substantially replaced by the ammonium or lithium ions.

摘要: Compositions and methods useful for oxygen sorption and other uses are presented, the compositions being within the general formulas (1), (2), (3), and (4): AxByO3-δ, (1) AxA′x′ByB′y′O3-δ, and (2) AxA′x′A″x″ByB′y′B″y″O3-δ, (3) MOn (4) and combinations thereof, especially those where the B sites are independently selected from cations of the d block transition metals Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu. One desirable set of compositions of the invention are combinations of any one or more of the compounds of generals formulas (1), (2), or (3) with one or more compounds of the general formula (4). In combination with an active support or matrix oxide within general formulas (1), (2), and (3), stability of the binary metal oxides within general formula (4) can be enhanced, while extending the oxygen sorption/desorption capacities of the matrix oxide.
