Screen interpolation is done without using an expensive line buffer, etc., to enlarge and display an original image without incongruity. Rather than computing an interpolated pixel value as an average of adjacent pixel values and displaying the computed average pixel value in each frame, in accordance with this invention a pixel to be interpolated assumes one of the adjacent pixel values in each frame, but in successive frames assumes different adjacent pixel values in a mix such that the average value of the interpolated pixel over many frames becomes the desired interpolated value. Since successive frames are displayed very rapidly, to the human eye the afterglow (or visual persistence) phenomenon causes the screen to appear as if an enlarged image is being displayed at all times without incongruity (i.e., the varying values of the interpolated pixels are not noticed by the human eye).

An electronic apparatus including a personal computer and a facsimile which are compatible with a general personal computer is provided. The apparatus includes a group of ports and a common memory which are provided between the personal computer and the facsimile and are used to transmit and receive various data. An interruption signal generator generates an interruption signal to the reception side of the apparatus when data is supplied between the personal computer and the facsimile through the ports. An interruption processing program which is started when the interruption signal is received is provided in a main memory of a central processing unit of each of the personal computer and the facsimile. With the present apparatus, various software products for general personal computers can be used without any change, while the facsimile function to transmit and receive image data via a line can be effectively used.

The disclosed solid-state color image sensing device has a color mosaic filter adapted to correspond to each of the picture elements of a solid-state image sensing element and is arranged to obtain a color signal from a difference signal corresponding to a difference between the direct output signal of the solid-state image sensing element and another output signal obtained through one preceding horizontal scanning period. The device provides a signal producing circuit which produces an inversion control signal arranged to control the periodic inversion of the difference signal determined by the color arrangement of the color mosaic filter and an inversion processing circuit which uniformalizes the polarity of a predetermined color signal in response to the inversion control signal. The above stated color signal is obtained from the low frequency zone component of the output signal of the inversion processing circuit.
