    摘要: An epoxy resin having hydroxyl groups is modified with .epsilon.-caprolactone by effecting the ring opening polymerization of .epsilon.-caprolactone onto the hydroxyl groups contained in the epoxy resin. The modified epoxy resin is further combined with a polycarboxylic anhydride and a promotor for curing, or polyamine to give a curable composition. The modified epoxy resin is further modified by reacting the epoxy groups therein with a primary or secondary amine. Both the modified resin and the compositions are useful as coating.

    摘要: In the production of carbon shaped articles such as fibers, films, etc. having high molecular orientation, anisotropy, strength, and modulus of elasticity through the steps of forming raw material pitch into desired shapes, infusibilization of the same followed by carbonization optionally graphitization, a raw material pitch having particular physical properties such as melt viscosity of 0.4 to 700 poises at a temperature range of 320.degree. to 480.degree. C, eminent structural anisotropy, and fluidity is used to produce such desired shaped product.

    摘要: In order to speed up and simplify automated learning of rules by a neural network making use of fuzzy logic, data from a system is analyzed by a teaching data creation means which groups the data into clusters and then selects a representative data item from each group for subsequent analysis. The selected data items are passed to a rule extraction means which investigates relationships between the data items, to derive rules, but eliminates rules which have only an insignificant effect on the system. The results are candidate rules which are stored in a first rule base. The candidate rules are then compared with rules in a second rule base to check for duplication and/or contradiction. Only those rules which are not duplicated and not contradictory are stored in the second rule base. Hence, when fuzzy inference is used to control the system on the basis of rules in the second rule base, only valid rules which provide a significant effect on the system are used.
