摘要： An image reproduction engine which causes toner to adhere to a development region of certain area located at a certain position within dots according to image reproduction data is utilized for image processing, wherein a halftone is expressed by means of halftone spots formed from a plurality of dots. The centroid of the halftone spot formed from a single dot or a plurality of adjacent dots is shifted from the center of the dot to an arbitrary position, thus achieving desired screen angles or desired pitches of halftone spots. As a result, screen angles related to an irrational tangent can be realized, and the pitches of halftone spots of a plurality of color screens can also be made uniform.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having first and second basic cells each containing a predetermined number of cells in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction and disposed adjacent to each other in the sub-scanning direction, a gradation processing portion arranged to perform a gradation expressing process for each basic cell in accordance with a density of a supplied image and a dot forming portion capable of forming dots on a recording medium to correspond to each pixel subjected to the gradation expressing process by the gradation processing portion. The gradation processing portion performs the gradation expressing process in such a manner that enlargement of dots in the first and second basic cells adjacent to each other in the sub-scanning direction is inhibited in the sub-scanning direction until the dots are enlarged and connected to each other in the main scanning direction. Thus, the distance in the sub-scanning direction between dots in the first and second basic cells in a low density region is kept to a predetermined width.

摘要： A fixing apparatus including a heating member and a pressurizing member that are in contact with each other under pressure to define a nip through which a sheet carrying an unfixed toner image is passed and a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of the heating member. The fixing apparatus further includes a temperature controller for proportionally controlling an electric power supplied to the heating member, based on the sensed temperature supplied from the temperature sensor, and for controlling the temperature of the heating member so that it is at a predetermined target temperature, and a heating condition changing device for changing a heating condition based on the target temperature and the sensed temperature when the temperature of the heating member is sensed. The electric power supplied to a halogen lamp functioning as a heat source of the heating roller is controlled in proportion to the temperature difference between the sensed temperature and the target temperature of the heating roller. The temperature of the pressurizing roller is estimated from the sensed temperature of the heating roller and the target temperature at a time when the sensing is performed. Then, heating conditions (such as the target temperature of the heating roller) which are suitable for the temperature of the pressurizing roller are reset.

摘要： A CPU 113 executes a control program stored in a memory 116 thereby forming a plurality of patch images with a developing bias increased for each of the patch images; detecting a density of each of the patch images by means of a patch sensor 17; and comparing the image densities to determine whether the image density is saturated or not. Then, an image forming condition in which an image density is substantially saturated is determined and is stored in the memory 116. When a print command signal is inputted from an external device via a main controller 100, a printing operation is performed under the image forming condition stored in the memory 116.
