摘要:
A balloon catheter having a multilayer catheter shaft is formed to have an inner layer and an outer layer, where the inner layer and outer layer are selected from materials that enhance the pushability of the catheter while preserving the flexibility. Using a combination of a high Shore D duromater value material and a lower Shore D duromater value material, various combinations of multilayer catheter shafts are disclosed utilizing different glass transition temperatures and block copolyamides to obtain the desired characteristics.

A catheter body having a variable stiffness along its longitudinal length and a method for manufacturing same is disclosed wherein an inner layer having an uninterrupted length serves as a backbone for segments of coextrusion of, e.g., Pebax or nylon and a tie layer which are then bonded to the backbone to create a multi-stiffness catheter body.

A balloon catheter is provided that may be used to dilate hardened regions of a stenosis on a vessel wall. The balloon catheter is provided with cutting elements that extend along a surface of a balloon. At least one bioactive is present, either on the cutting element, within the interior of the balloon, within the material of the balloon or on an outside surface of the balloon. The bioactive is delivered to the vessel wall upon dilation of the balloon.

A weeping balloon catheter includes a catheter having an elongate tubular body defining an inflation lumen and a combination lumen that terminates at an open distal end of the elongate tubular body. A dilation balloon is disposed at a distal end of the elongate tubular body and is in fluid communication with the inflation lumen. A drug delivery balloon is disposed at least partially over the dilation balloon and includes at least one drug release opening through an outer wall of the drug delivery balloon. The drug delivery balloon is in fluid communication with the combination lumen through a sidewall opening of the elongate tubular body.

A device for treating pulmonary hypertension includes an inflatable balloon structure (1), an implantable port (9), and a conduit (2) connecting the balloon (1) and the implantable port in a sealed manner. The balloon, the port and the conduit are filled with a gas, and the pressure is such that the balloon (1) is normally inflated but is capable of being compressed during systole. The inflatable balloon (1) has first and second segments sized to extend into the left branch and the right branch of the pulmonary artery bifurcation respectively. The conduit (2) may connected in a T-junction to a middle portion of the balloon (1) or may be bifurcated into first and second branches (12a,12b) which are connected to the first and second balloon segments (13a,13b), respectively. The device may also have guide tubes opening at the longitudinal ends of the balloon (1) and guide wires (4, 6) engaged and capable of sliding in said guide tubes.

A medical device having an elongate support structure and an inflatable balloon including a first-end portion secured to the support structure at a first location, a second-end portion secured to the support structure at a second location distal to the first location, and a middle-body portion. The first-end portion has a wall thickness greater than a wall thickness of the middle-body portion; the balloon defines a sealed interior through which the support structure extends. The balloon being stretch-mounted to the support structure in tension relative to the support structure; the balloon is formed in a diamond-like configuration that transitions to a substantially spherical configuration when the balloon is inflated to a inflation pressure that is at least about ten percent greater than atmospheric pressure, such that when inflated to the inflation pressure and anchored in an anatomical body region, resists movement of the support structure relative to the balloon.

A catheter assembly may be provided with a catheter body and an inflatable balloon. The catheter body has a proximal end, a distal end and a balloon inflation lumen. The inflatable balloon is attachable to the distal end of the catheter body. The balloon has an inner surface that at least partially defines an interior volume. The balloon is configured such that the interior volume can be in fluid communication with the inflation lumen of the catheter body to inflate the balloon. The balloon also has a proximal surface and a distal surface. The balloon is provided with a channel that extends through the balloon. The channel is configured to provide fluid communication between the proximal surface of the balloon and the distal surface of the balloon. Other catheter assemblies and methods of use are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to systems and methods for in situ inspection, interrogation, and maintenance of heart pump function in subjects with an implanted heart pump. In certain embodiments, the system comprises a catheter assembly deliverable to the inflow port and outflow port of the implanted heart pump. The system comprises additional components used to examine pump function and prevent malfunction. In certain embodiments, the invention allows for temporary, mid-term, or permanent exclusion of the implanted heart pump from cardiac function without surgically removing the pump.
摘要:
This is a balloon catheter having at least two lumens. One of the lumens is a large working lumen. The balloon catheter is especially useful as a guide catheter or micro catheter and may be used in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. In particular, it has value in treating neurovascular embolic strokes in combination with other devices which are delivered to the stroke site through that working lumen. The remainder of the lumens typically are used to inflate and to deflate the balloon.

Multi-lumen catheter having a monolithic elongate tubular shaft member having a proximal end, a distal end and a longitudinal length therebetween. The tubular shaft member has an outer cross-sectional dimension that varies along the length of the tubular shaft member. The tubular shaft member has an inner core made of a first material and an outer layer made of a second material. The inner core has a first lumen and a second lumen defined therein, the first lumen having a first lumen cross-section and a length extending at least along a portion of the length of the tubular shaft member. The first lumen cross-section is substantially uniform along the length of the first lumen. The second lumen has a second lumen cross-section and a length extending along the length of tubular shaft member. The second lumen cross-section is substantially uniform along the length of the second lumen.
