Abstract:
Artificial turf for use with an artificial turf system, which may also include a base layer and a support layer. The artificial turf comprising a backing supporting pile tufts of between ¼″ to 4″ in length, in position on its upper surface. The backing may comprise a porous synthetic foam or backing sheet. A filler of particles shaped to have no sharp edges and of substantially equal size are interspersed over the backing and about the tufts up to at least half thick length. The artificial turf substantially retains its resiliency, porosity and equal density throughout.
Abstract:
A heat reflective garment interlining laminate is provided that includes a continuous filament layer and a metallized thermoplastic film. The laminate is characteristically low-cost and suitable for such apparel applications as sports clothing, military clothing, camping gear, hunting/fishing clothing, and the like.
Abstract:
A tufted backing and a method of manufacturing a tufted backing from thermoplastic polymer fibers or filaments that are processed to yield a spunbonded nonwoven are described, the spunbonded nonwoven containing only fibers or filaments having a titer of 1 to 15 dtex, the mass per unit area of the tufted backing being 70 to 110 g/m2, its density being 0.18 to 0.28 g/cm3 and the 5% modulus value in the machine direction being >60 N/5 cm, but at least 0.6 Nm2/g.

Abstract:
Modular carpet tiles having multiple layers are described, including a laminate layer having a compatibilizing agent. The laminate layer can include at least one polyolefin functionalized with at least one unsaturated organic acid and/or at least one unsaturated organic acid anhydride, such as maleic anhydride. The functionalized polyolefin can have an acid number from about 5 to about 55 mg KOH/g. Methods of making the tiles are also described.
Abstract:
A backing or an intermediate layer for a surface covering is described which comprises a fused recycled material, wherein the material comprises a thermoplastic material, for instance, a vinyl material from a vinyl backed carpet or vinyl backed carpet manufacturing waste or both. Surface coverings containing the backing or intermediate layer of the present invention are also described as well as methods of making the backing or intermediate layer and methods of making the surface coverings containing the backing or intermediate layer of the present invention.
Abstract:
An improved secondary carpet backing fabric imparts increased resistance to buckling in carpets compared to conventional widely used secondary backings while providing the performance of conventional secondary carpet backings (e.g., similar peel strength, tuft bind, ease of handling). The improved backing is produced by a one-step weaving process and can be converted easily into carpet using current carpet making techniques. The inventive secondary carpet backing contains core-spun filling yarn with specific properties and is preferably woven in a leno or plain weave. Compared to carpets with conventional secondary backings, carpets with the inventive secondary backings display reduced growth in cyclic tensile testing.
Abstract:
A method of producing carpet having the steps of: providing a carpet having a pile side formed from yarn fibers projecting through a primary backing layer, and an underside region comprising back stitch yarn fibers and the primary backing layer; applying effective repellency enhancing amounts of a first repellency enhancing compound to the pile side; applying a liquid repellency enhancing compound to the underside region to provide improved liquid barrier properties in the region; and applying separately a coating or latex layer to the underside region.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed toward a non-coated fabric for outdoor applications that is made up of a woven fabric and a chemical composition impregnated into the woven fabric. The woven fabric is made from multifilament yarns that are solution dyed and have a UV rating of at least 500 hours. The chemical composition includes a fluorocarbon polymer, a water repellent agent, a blocked isocyanate extender, and a fire resistant agent.
Abstract:
Tufted carpets bonded with thermoplastic binders and having improved resistance to fuzz formation due to removal of pile yarn filaments from tuft bundles comprise one or more backings, face yarn that forms a pile on one side and stitches on an opposite side, a thermoplastic binder that binds stitches and the backing or backings, and an organic polymer that bonds filaments of the stitches. Processes for making carpets comprise applying to a stitched side of a tufted backing a liquid stitch bind composition comprising an organic polymer component, removing a liquid component of the composition to bond filaments of the stitches and bonding stitches and one or more backings with a thermoplastic binder that is melted or applied as a melt in contact with the stitched side and the backing or backings and solidified.
Abstract:
An artificial turf filament has a cross-section that includes a central area and two wing areas integral with said central area. Further a bundle of a plurality of artificial turf filaments is proposed, wherein the artificial turf filaments are held together by one or more wrapping filaments wrapped around said artificial turf filaments. The wrapping filaments cross each other at cross points, and are bonded, preferably releasable bonded, to one another at said cross points. Also the wrapping filaments are bonded, preferably releasable bonded, to said artificial turf filaments.
