Abstract:
A backside coated fabric includes a fabric substrate having a front side (face) and a back side. A water permeable spacer layer is applied to the back side of the fabric substrate. The water permeable spacer layer allows penetration of water into its matrix when hydrostatic water pressure is applied to the face of the fabric substrate. The water permeable spacer layer provides a smooth coating surface onto which subsequent water impermeable barrier layers can be applied creating a physical separating layer between the fabric substrate and the water impermeable barrier layer. A water impermeable barrier layer is disposed over the water permeable spacer layer to provide an impermeable water barrier layer that does not allow penetration of water through the coated fabric when hydrostatic water pressure is applied to the face of the fabric construction.
Abstract:
Provided are a textile fabric sheet having stain and liquid resistance including a fabric sheet, a polyurethane coating layer formed on the fabric sheet and a silicon coating layer formed on the polyurethane coating layer and a method of preparing the same. Thus, a texture characteristic of the fabric substrate itself can be exhibited, and due to the polyurethane coating layer and the silicon coating layer stacked in two steps, excellent water resistance, stain resistance and air permeability can be exhibited.
Abstract:
A method of making fabrics having first and second surfaces that exhibit different performance characteristics by virtue of having been treated with different chemical treatments is described. In addition, fabrics having first and second surfaces that exhibit different performance characteristics, such as one surface exhibiting oil and water repellency and optionally, soil release characteristics, and the opposite surface exhibits moisture transport characteristics.
Abstract:
Moisture permeable textile constructions are disclosed. The face side of the construction comprises a low energy surface; the reverse side of the construction may carry an adhesive that allows the construction to be securely attached to a support surface, yet may be readily removable without residue or damage to the support surface. The low energy surface may be printed, patterned, or otherwise treated to provide decorative and/or functional characteristics, as desired, depending on the intended use of the construction. Various chemical additives such as stain release agents, biocides, etc. may be incorporated into the construction.
Abstract:
To improve the liquid barrier properties of a carpet, a repellency compound, such as a fluorochemical, is applied to the backstitch side or underside of the primary backing layer of a carpet.
Abstract:
A woven fabric substrate is treated with a fluorochemical stain resist agent and thereafter extrusion coated substantially on the back side with a layer of thermoplastic polymeric material so as to yield a final construction which exhibits both fluid and stain resistant properties. The fabric substrate can also be treated with an flame retardant agent, an antistatic agent, and/or an anti-microbial agent.
Abstract:
An improved fabric for use in applications such as furniture upholstery is provided which possesses desirable flexibility, cleanability, and fluid resistant properties. The fabric includes a textile substrate treated with a fluorochemical stain resist agent. The treated textile substrate is covered substantially on the back with a layer of extrusion coated thermoplastic polymer which is pressed at least partially into the fabric substrate. A process for forming the fluid shield fabric according to the present invention is also provided. Preferably, the fabric is comprised of solution dyed nylon and the polymeric material is ethylene methyl acrylate polymer.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for preparing a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) carpet, in which the poly(trimethylene terephthalate) carpet is prepared from poly(trimethylene terephthalate) yarns through the post-processes comprising cabling, heat setting, tufting, dyeing, becking, and shearing. The poly(trimethylene terephthalate) yarns have advantages of improved quality, functionality, and workability by optimizing operating conditions of the steps.
Abstract:
A liquid repellant, stain-resistant, antimicrobial fabric. At least one composition comprising an antimicrobial agent and a fluorochemical composition is applied to a fabric such as a jacquard, to produce a treated fabric. The liquid and stain-resistant, antimicrobial, fabric essentially retains its natural texture, is durable and is easy to handle.
Abstract:
A method of making a fabric for use in wallcoverings, wall paneling, and ceiling tiles is disclosed. The wallcovering comprises a woven fabric layer of pigmented resin textured glass, a stain repellant polymeric fluorocarbon face coating applied to a first side of the fabric layer, and an opaque back coating comprising an acrylic resin applied to a second side of said fabric layer. The fabric is flame retardant, flexible and has substantial dimensional stability and strength.
