Abstract: An improved measuring device has been developed by combining a visual detector such as a camera, digital distance measuring device, and a positional sensor. The system uses positional measurements of the device along with distance measurements to generate a point cloud and uses the visual image along with distance measurements to identify and label objects. The point cloud and labeled objects are combined to generate a schematic of the environment being measured and extract relevant measurements.

Abstract: Systems and methods for optimizing asset maintenance protocols by predicting vegetation-driven outages are disclosed. An example method includes determining, by one or more processors, a failure probability for each asset in a set of assets within a designated area. The example method further includes defining, by the one or more processors, an asset risk for each asset in the set of assets based on the failure probability, and clustering, by the one or more processors, vegetation within the designated area to determine a predicted vegetation-driven outage. The example method further includes optimizing, by the one or more processors, a set of asset maintenance protocols corresponding to the set of assets based on the asset risk and the predicted vegetation-driven outage.

Abstract: Examples of various method and systems are provided for information extraction from scene information. 2D image information can be generated from 2D images of the scene that are overlapping at least part of one or more object(s). The 2D image information can be combined with 3D information about the scene incorporating at least part of the object(s) to generate projective geometry information. Clustered 3D information associated with the object(s) can be generated by partitioning and grouping 3D data points present in the 3D information. The clustered 3D information can be used to provide, e.g., measurement information, dimensions, geometric information, and/or topological information about the object(s). Segmented 2D information can also be generated from the 2D image information. Validated 2D and 3D information can be produced by cross-referencing between the projective geometry information, clustered 3D information, and/or segmented 2D image information, and used to label the object(s) in the scene.

Abstract: An optical dimensioning system includes one or more light emitting assemblies configured to project one or more predetermined patterns on an object; an imaging assembly configured to sense light scattered and/or reflected off the object, and to capture an image of the object while the patterns are projected; and a processing assembly configured to analyze the image of the object to determine one or more dimension parameters of the object. The light emitting assembly may include a single piece optical component configured for producing a first pattern and second pattern. The patterns may be distinguishable based on directional filtering, feature detection, feature shift detection, or the like. A method for optical dimensioning includes illuminating an object with at least two detectable patterns; and calculating dimensions of the object by analyzing pattern separate of the elements comprising the projected patterns. One or more pattern generators may produce the patterns.

Abstract: An optical system is configured to support eye tracking operations in a head mounted device. The optical system includes a transparent layer, a laser, and first and second output couplers. The laser is configured to emit light into the transparent layer. The first output coupler is configured to out-couple a first portion of the light from a first location of the transparent layer. The second output coupler is configured to out-couple a second portion of the light from a second location of the transparent layer. The first and second output couplers are in the field-of-view of a user. A combination of the first portion of the light and the second portion of the light out-coupled from the first output coupler and the second output coupler is configured to generate a fringe pattern, for example, on an eye of a user of the head mounted device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable storage media are disclosed that utilizes machine learning models for patch retrieval and deformation in completing three-dimensional digital shapes. In particular, in one or more implementations the disclosed systems utilize a machine learning model to predict a coarse completion shape from an incomplete 3D digital shape. The disclosed systems sample coarse 3D patches from the coarse 3D digital shape and learn a shape distance function to retrieve detailed 3D shape patches in the input shape. Moreover, the disclosed systems learn a deformation for each retrieved patch and blending weights to integrate the retrieved patches into a continuous surface.
