    Abstract: In a rotating electrical machine, a field generator includes a magnet unit and a cylindrical magnet holder. The magnet unit includes circular-arc magnets arranged in the circumferential direction. Each magnet has an outer peripheral surface. The magnet unit includes a magnet fastening member configured to fasten the magnets. Each magnet has first and second end surfaces in the circumferential direction. The first end surface of each magnet is located to be in contact with the magnet located adjacent to the first end surface thereof. The second end surface of each magnet is located to be in contact with the magnet located adjacent to the second end surface thereof. The magnet fastening member is wound around the outer peripheral surfaces of the circumferentially arranged magnets to radially and inwardly press the outer peripheral surfaces of the circumferentially arranged magnets.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine includes a field element and an armature. The field element includes a magnet portion that includes a plurality of magnets arranged in an array in a circumferential direction. In the magnet, an easy axis of magnetization is oriented in a circular arc shape such that, on a d-axis side closer to a d-axis that is a magnetic pole center, the orientation of the easy axis of magnetization is parallel to the d-axis compared to a q-axis side closer to a q-axis that is a magnetic pole boundary, and a circular-arc-shaped magnet magnetic path is formed along the easy axis of magnetization. The magnet is formed into a circular arc shape when viewed from an axial direction of the rotor, and is provided with a first reference surface that is a planar surface and a second reference surface that is parallel to the first reference surface.

    Abstract: In a rotating electrical machine, a field element includes a field element core to which magnets are fixed. The magnet has a pair of first acting surfaces opposing each other and through which a magnetic flux flows in or flows out, and a second acting surface serving as an inflow surface or an outflow surface for magnetic flux in a q-axis-side end portion. Between an acting surface on the armature side of the pair of first acting surfaces and the second acting surface, the magnet has a magnet magnetic path that extends from one acting surface to the other. The field element core has a q-axis-side portion adjacent in the circumferential direction to the acting surface of the magnet. A controller controls an energization phase of phases of an armature winding to cause a state of magnetic saturation of the q-axis-side portion of the field element core to be variable.

    Abstract: A motor includes a rotor molded by resin casting, and a stator disposed inside the rotor. The rotor includes a cylindrical portion in which a plurality of magnets are arranged side by side in a circumferential direction. The magnets are exposed on a side of an open end as one end of the cylindrical portion in an axial direction of the cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion includes an inner resin located inside each of the magnets in a radial direction of the cylindrical portion. The inner resin includes a first resin portion, and a second resin portion closer to the open end than the first resin portion in the axial direction. A sectional area of the second resin portion perpendicular to the axial direction is smaller than a sectional area of the first resin portion perpendicular to the axial direction.

    Abstract: A voltage limit ellipse is defined in a d-q coordinate system of a rotating electric machine by d-axis and q-axis currents flowing through an armature coil when the magnitude of a voltage vector applied to the armature coil is equal to a voltage limit value. The product of the number of electrical conductor sections per pole in each phase and the number of poles of the rotating electric machine is set to have, when the rotational speed of the rotating electric machine is equal to a maximum rotational speed, the center of the voltage limit ellipse located outside an electric-current limit circle and in a negative d-axis region in the d-q coordinate system and a positive-d-axis-side vertex of the voltage limit ellipse located inside or on the electric-current limit circle.
