摘要: A method for providing a hole through a metal engine component having a base metal and thermal barrier coating layer forming a top surface of the component, the hole having a central axis extending at a hole angle of 20 degrees or less with respect to the top surface. The method includes laser trepanning through the thermal barrier coating layer without penetrating the base metal by moving a central axis of a pulse laser beam within a boundary of the hole, with the pulse laser beam having a first pulse energy level. The central axis of the pulse laser beam is then disposed within the boundary at the hole angle and shots of the pulse laser beam are applied to drill through the base metal and complete the hole, using a second pulse energy level different from the first pulse energy level.

摘要: A process is provided for forming a plurality of apertures in a fiber-reinforced composite object using a laser. The apertures include at least a first aperture and a second aperture. During the process, a scanner head of the laser is operated from a location to selectively scan a laser beam over the object to form a first portion of the first aperture and to form a first portion of the second aperture. The scanner head is also operated from the location to selectively scan the laser beam over the object to form a second portion of the first aperture and to fowl a second portion of the second aperture.

摘要: A laser machine comprises: a head including optical parts allowing reflection of a laser beam or allowing the laser beam to pass through, while being rotatable about rotary axes, and a focusing optical system that focuses the laser beam; a moving mechanism that allows the head and a target to move relative to each other; and a control unit that controls rotations of the optical parts in such a manner that an irradiation intended position to be reached by an emission optical axis when the laser beam is emitted to the target moves in a curvilinear pattern or a linear pattern, controls movement by the moving mechanism so as to move the head and the target relative to each other, and controls emission output from the laser source so as to change a condition for emitting the laser beam based on the rotation angles of the optical parts.

摘要: A laser machining apparatus includes a laser nozzle for supplying an assistive gas to remove undesirable materials and applying a laser beam at an angle, which is inclined with respect to a surface of a workpiece, a sputter blocking jig disposed over a region of the workpiece that is irradiated with the laser beam, so as to lie across directions in which the laser beam is scattered, and for blocking sputtered particles that are generated from the surface by the applied laser beam, and a joint connecting the laser nozzle and the sputter blocking jig to each other. The joint moves the laser nozzle and the sputter blocking jig in synchronism with each other.
