Abstract:
A method is described for producing lactamates by reacting alcoholates with lactams, wherein a reaction mixture comprising at least one alcoholate and at least one lactam is subjected to thin film evaporation.

Abstract:
A method for producing ε-caprolactam and a method for reactivating a zeolite catalyst for the production are provided. In the reactivation step, a zeolite catalyst is allowed to contact a gas containing a carboxylic acid, water and a compound selected from ammonia and amines. In accordance with the present invention, the catalytic activities of a zeolite catalyst used for the Beckmann rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone oxime can be effectively restored. Consequently, ε-caprolactam may be produced with a high production yield for a long period of time by reusing the catalyst by the method described above.
Abstract:
Disclosed are catalysts for the polymerization of higher lactam monomers. The catalysts comprise an essentially homogenic binary mixture of lauric-lactam and a salt of lauric-lactam.The inventive catalyst can be stored at room temperature without making special provisions to avoid any access of air and moisture.
Abstract:
An improved process for the preparation of a lactam-magnesium compound which involves bringing into intimate admixture a lactam monomer represented by the following structural formula: ##STR1## wherein Y is an alkylene group having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, in particulate form, and an organomagnesium-containing material. The process is carried out at a temperature below the melting point of the lactam monomer but at a temperature sufficient to convert at least a portion of the lactam monomer to said lactam-magnesium compound in pulverulent form. The lactam-magnesium compound is useful as a catalyst for anionic lactam polymerization.
Abstract:
Powder coatings for the preparation of protective films for a wide variety of substrates, said coatings being based on urethane or epoxy systems containing a .epsilon.-caprolactam-blocked mixed 5(6)-isocyanato-1-(4'-isocyanatophenyl)-1,3,3-trimethylindane; as well as the mixed diisocyanate and the .epsilon.-caprolactam-blocked form thereof.
Abstract:
Substantially pure crystals of .epsilon.-caprolactam-diblocked .omega.,.omega.'-diisocyanato-1,3-dimethylbenzene melting at 110.degree. C. or higher are advantageously used as a hardener of powder coating composition.
