Abstract:
A low friction coated article includes a first structure that has a first lubricated surface coated with a first polyelectrolyte coating. A second structure has a second lubricated surface with a second polyelectrolyte coating opposite the first lubricated surface. The first and second polyelectrolyte coatings include alternating layers of positively charged polyelectrolyte layers and negatively charged polyelectrolyte layers hydrated with a lubricant.
Abstract:
A low friction wear surface with a coefficient of friction in the superlubric regime including graphene and nanoparticles on the wear surface is provided, and methods of producing the low friction wear surface are also provided. A long lifetime wear-resistant surface including graphene exposed to hydrogen is provided, including methods of increasing the lifetime of graphene containing wear surfaces by providing hydrogen to the wear surface.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition comprises an anti-wear and or/friction modifying additive which is an ester of a fatty acid and a polyol. At least 50% by weight of the additive is in the form of a mono-ester, and is preferably a mono-glyceride. The lubricant composition may be used in an internal combustion engine.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is provided which comprises a base oil and hydroxytyrosol and/or esters thereof. Also provided is a lubricant composition in which the esters have a solubility in the base oil at 25° C. of at least 0.1 g/l. Further provided is a lubricant composition in which the esters are at least partly carboxylic acid esters comprising esters of hydroxytyrosol and C2-10 carboxylic acids.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is provided containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a substantially sulfur-free alkyl phosphate amine salt, where at least 30 mole percent of the phosphorus atoms are in an alkyl pyrophosphate salt structure, along with either or both of a conventional phosphorous containing antiwear additive and a glycerol ester. In the phosphate amine salt, at least 80 mole percent of the alkyl groups are typically secondary alkyl groups of 3 to 12 carbon atoms. A method of improving wear over a wide temperature range in a mechanical device is also provided by employing the lubricant composition.
Abstract:
A grease composition contains a mixture of a lubricating base oil, an ester-terminated polyamide and at least one polyolefin. The ester-terminated polyamide has the formula: R1-O—CO—R2-CO—[NH—R3-NH—CO—R2-CO]n-O—R1. R1 contains 4-22 carbon atoms, R2 contains 4-42 carbon atoms, R3 contains 2-9 carbon atoms and n is an integer in the range of 1-20. The grease composition can be used for lubricating a mechanical component having a metal surface and/or for protecting a mechanical component having a metal surface against corrosion, wear and/or fretting.
Abstract:
The present in relates to a lubricating oil composition for sliding member having a coating film, the lubricating oil composition containing a base oil; (A) a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate; and (B) a metallic detergent, wherein the content of sulfur atom (S) is 2,800 ppm by mass or less on the basis of the whole amount of the lubricating oil composition, and a mass ratio of the content of sulfur atom (S) and the content of metal atom (BM) derived from the component (B) [(S)/(BM)] in the lubricating oil composition is 0.07 or more and 2.90 or less.
Abstract:
The sliding properties of a sliding material which comprises fluorine-plastic and binder resin are improved, such that it withstands high speed and high load and varying sliding conditions from the lubricating-oil free condition to the lubricating-oil condition and vice versa. A novel sliding material comprises fluorine-plastic particles having a flat ratio of from 1.5 to 10 in terms of an average aspect ratio and binder resin.
Abstract:
An automatic balancing device including a case body provided with a hollow annular member having an outer peripheral side sliding wall face and concentrically mounted on a rotation shaft, a plurality of balance spherical bodies which are accommodated within the inside of the hollow annular member of the case body and disposed movably in a free manner when the rotation body is rotated, and a lubricant containing a liquid system lubricant which is adhered in a film manner on at least the outer peripheral side sliding wall face of the case body. The lubricant containing a liquid system lubricant may be preferably coated in a concentrated manner on the sliding face, then rotationally driving the rotation body and then suddenly stopping the rotation body to adhere the lubricant in a film manner on the outer peripheral side sliding wall face of the case body.
Abstract:
