    摘要: A thermoelectric system includes a pair of substrates, a plurality of semiconductor elements, and first, second, and third terminals. The semiconductor elements are positioned between the opposing faces of the substrates, and the semiconductor elements include at least two groups of dissimilar semiconductor elements. The semiconductor elements are electrically coupled in series by conductor elements arranged so the two groups of dissimilar semiconductor elements are connected in an alternating pattern. The first, second and third terminals are connected to the conductor elements with the third terminal positioned between the first and second terminals. The electrically coupled semiconductor elements include first nodes and second nodes. The first and second nodes emit or absorb heat according to electric current flowing through the semiconductor elements, and impedance of the thermoelectric system is controlled by switching the switch.

    摘要: An aircraft drain/fill fitting includes a housing adapted for being fitted into an opening between an aircraft interior and an aircraft exterior. The housing has an interior housing segment fluidly coaxially communicating with an exterior housing segment to define a liquid flow path therethrough, and a heater for applying heat to the interior housing segment. A hollow insert element is positioned in the interior housing segment in heat transfer contact with an inner wall of the interior housing segment. An elongate heat transfer probe is positioned in heat transfer contact with the hollow insert element and extends into the exterior housing segment to reduce the incidence of freezing of liquid in the exterior housing segment.

    摘要: A track rail heating assembly that is adapted to position a heater element in spaced relation proximate to a surface of a track rail of a railroad. The assembly includes at least one heating element, and a housing that is operable to at least partially surround the heating element while positioning the heating element near to track rail. The hood positions the heating element relative to the rail section such that a gap exists between the heating element and the rail section. As the heating element does not contact the rail, the heating element cannot form an electrical by-pass for signals passing through the rail section. The assembly further incorporates a flexible barrier that at least partially isolates a side surface of the track rail from ambient conditions to reduce heat loss.

    摘要: The present invention relates to thermoplastic products. In particular, the present invention relates to systems and methods for heating a thermoplastic product. While the thermoplastic product can include any suitable ingredient, in some cases, it includes one or more electrically-conductive materials, such as iron. Also, while the thermoplastic product can be melted in any suitable manner, in some cases, an inductive heater is used to heat the electrically-conductive material and thereby melt the thermoplastic product. In some cases, the thermoplastic product is configured to be melted on demand. While this can be accomplished in any suitable manner, in some instances, the thermoplastic product is formed into an elongated shape, such as rope, that is fed past a heater, such as an inductive heater, to melt the product. In other cases, the thermoplastic product is melted in a vat that is heated by an inductive heater. Other implementations are also described.
