Abstract:
A filter assembly includes a conditioning device that conditions a flow of air upstream of a mass air flow sensor. The filter assembly includes a support frame. The filter assembly further includes a filter media coupled to the support frame, the filter media having a dirty side configured to receive a stream of air and a clean side configured to output a stream of air that has been filtered through the filter media. The filter assembly includes a conditioning device coupled to the support frame, the conditioning device positioned in a downstream direction from the clean side of the filter media with respect to the stream of air, the conditioning device offset from the clean side of the filter media by a separation distance.
Abstract:
A rotating separator has a housing preventing separated liquid carryover. A plenum between the annular rotating separating filter element and the housing sidewall has one or more flow path separating guides minimizing the flow of separated liquid to the outlet. The flow path guides may include one or more fins and/or swirl flow dampers and/or a configured surface.
Abstract:
A water sensor for a fuel filtration apparatus includes a main body with at least one electrical contact disposed proximate the first end of the main body. The electrical contact(s) is operatively connectable to an electronic control unit. Multiple sensor contacts are disposed proximate a second end of the main body. The sensor contacts are configured to detect multiple water levels and provide an output on each water level detected. The electrical contact is configured to send the output to an electronic control unit. The water level information provided by the water sensor can be tracked by a control device to determine if the fill rate of water meets an alarm value.
Abstract:
A filtration sealing system is provided for sealing a filter element in a housing at a mating interface therebetween. The sealing system includes a keyed interface. A replacement filter element is provided for such filtration sealing system, with the replacement filter element including a keyed interface.
Abstract:
A filter element is described that includes an endplate that also serves as the lid or cover for the filter housing. The combined endplate/lid includes a central hole that is closed to fluid flow when the proper filter element-housing combination is used. Various embodiments for different functional uses of the central hole are also described.
Abstract:
A filter assembly has a qualified filter element that filters fuel, a filter housing for the qualified filter element and a water-in-fuel sensor that senses presence of water in the filter housing. An electrical resistance of the water-in-fuel sensor changes based upon whether the qualified filter element is installed in the housing. A filter assembly can also have a plurality of magnetic elements disposed on at least one of the filter housing and the qualified filter element. A plurality of wires are disposed on at least the other of the filter housing and the qualified filter element. The control circuit determines that the qualified filter element is installed in the filter housing based on a change in the electrical current in the plurality of wires,
Abstract:
A filter cartridge including an improved endplate configured to enable a user to remove the filter cartridge from a shell without the use of external tools. The filter cartridge includes a filter media, a first endplate coupled to a first end of the filter media, and a second endplate coupled to a second end of the filter media. The second endplate includes at least one tab formed therein along an outer peripheral surface thereof. Each tab defines a pocket formed therein, via which the user may grasp the endplate and thereby remove the filter cartridge from the shell by hand.
Abstract:
Pleated air filters and methods of making the pleated air filters. The pleated air filter includes an air filter media sheet which is folded along a longitudinal centerline. The air filter media sheet is separated into a plurality of sections by hinges formed out of the air filter media sheet, with each section forming a pocket. The pleated air filter further includes a plurality of spacer elements, each spacer element positioned on an outer surface of a section or within a pocket. The pleated air filter includes a polyurethane seal. The air filter media sheet is alternately folded along the hinges to form a pleat block. The polyurethane seal is positioned on a side of the pleat block such that the polyurethane seal seals the side.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus is described that has a torque limiting device, which may be a clutch mechanism, and which provides a protective function for a filter, so as to protect a filter from being over tightened and to thereby prevent damage to filter components. The clutch mechanism can also eliminate or reduce the need for torque measurement of certain filter components. The clutch mechanism can be located on one of the fluid filter, a filter head which engages the fluid filter, or a combination of both the fluid filter and the filter head.
Abstract:
The combination of a gas-pressure-driven pump jet nozzle or alternatively Coanda effect nozzle with an impactor nozzle(s) in an air-oil separator for separating oil from blow-by gasses from a crankcase of an internal combustion engine, or for separating liquid aerosol from gas, in general. Such combination enhances impaction efficiency and enables operation at higher pressure differentials (or pressure drop) (“dP”) without causing excessive backpressure in the air-oil separator.
