    Abstract: A battery electric system includes a battery, sensor suite, and controller. The sensor suite includes a current sensor, voltage sensor, and temperature sensor. The controller is operable for determining an estimated open circuit voltage of the battery at different time points using a current signal and a voltage signal from the current and voltage sensors, and an equivalent circuit model (ECM). The controller determines an ECM-based state of charge (SOC) of the battery at the different time points, via a calibrated SOC map, using the open circuit voltage and temperature, and calculates a sensor gain value using the ECM-based SOC and a coulomb counting-based SOC, both at the different time points. A control action is executed with respect to the battery when the sensor gain value exceeds a predetermined gain fault threshold, including generating a fault notification signal indicative of a fault of the current sensor.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a battery cell includes providing a stack including C cathode electrodes each including a cathode current collector, a cathode active layer, and an external tab extending from the cathode current collector, A anode electrodes including an anode current collector, an anode active layer, and an external tab extending from the anode current collector, and S separators. The method includes providing a terminal including a first portion connected to a second portion at a predetermined angle less than or equal to 100°; positioning external tabs of one of the A anode electrodes and the C cathode electrodes in contact with one of an inner surface and an outer surface of the first portion of the terminal; and laser welding ends of the external tabs to the one of an inner surface and an outer surface of the first portion of the terminal.

    Abstract: Presented are control systems for governing analog and digital radio services in motor vehicles, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems. A method of controlling a vehicle includes an in-vehicle radio tuner receiving selections of broadcast radio stations output by analog signals and/or streaming radio stations output by digital signals. A vehicle controller retrieves a memory-stored broadcast station service (BSS) map with a service contour containing available broadcast radio stations having sufficient signal strength within a designated area. The controller receives geopositional data indicative of the host vehicle's location, and accesses a remote database to retrieve an updated BSS map that corresponds to the vehicle's location. The controller then determines if the stored BSS map corresponds to the updated BSS map; if not, the radio tuner responsively displays an updated list of available stations revised to reflect available stations contained in the updated BSS map.

    Abstract: A charging system of a vehicle includes a first charge port selectively connectable to a battery system of the vehicle, the first charge port configured to receive electrical power from a power source to charge the battery system, and a second charge port selectively connectable to the battery system of the vehicle, the second charge port connected to a bi-directional charger. The charging system also includes a controller configured to connect the battery system to the first charge port and control a first charging operation to charge the battery system, connect the battery system to the second charge port, and control a second charging operation to supply electrical power to charge an external energy storage system.

    Abstract: A vehicle control system includes a transmitting electronic control unit for transmitting multiplexed protocol data units. The transmitting electronic control unit is enabled to transmit first and second protocol data units with corresponding first and second selector field values. A receiving electronic control unit is in electronic communication with the transmitting electronic control unit. The receiving electronic control unit is enabled to be programmed to operate in a first mode of operation or in a second mode of operation. The receiving electronic control unit is enabled to receive and process the first protocol data unit based on receipt of the first selector field value when operating in the first mode of operation and is enabled to receive and process the second protocol data unit based on receipt of the second selector field value when operating in the second mode of operation.
