Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to articles of manufacture, such as medical devices, having a non-fouling surface comprising a grafted polymer material. The surface resists the adhesion of biological material.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods are provided for modulating cell-cell fusion by using agents that modulate expression, activity, or function of intermediate-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK4) channel. In some embodiments, the compositions and methods of the invention provide for inhibition of multi-nucleated osteoclastogenesis and cell-cell fusion, especially cell fusion involving macrophages. In such embodiments, the compositions can comprise inhibitory nucleic acids, monoclonal antibodies or small molecule inhibitors of the SK4 channels and find use in preventing and/or treating various diseases or disorders including bone loss, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases or disorders, implant and transplant rejection, and cancer metastasis. In other embodiments, the compositions and methods of the invention provide for activation of cell-cell fusion. Also provided are methods to screen for SK4 channel modulators (inhibitors or activators) that modulate cell-cell fusion, particularly macrophage cell fusion.
Abstract:
Neighbor cell hearability can be improved by including an additional reference signal that can be detected at a low sensitivity and a low signal-to-noise ratio, by introducing non-unity frequency reuse for the signals used for a time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurement, e.g., orthogonality of signals transmitted from the serving cell sites and the various neighbor cell sites. The new reference signal, called the TDOA-RS, is proposed to improve the hearability of neighbor cells in a cellular network that deploys 3GPP EU-TRAN (LTE) system, and the TDOA-RS can be transmitted in any resource blocks (RB) for POSCH and/or MBSFN subframe, regardless of whether the latter is on a carrier supporting both PMCH and POSCH or not. Besides the additional TDOA-RS reference signal, an additional synchronization signal (TDOA-sync) may also be included to improve the hearability of neighbor cells.
Abstract:
A user accessing a media service desires to find out more information about the media service by formulating a query, by operation of an input device, where a region of interest of said media service is selected by the user. The query is submitted to other users who are defined by various tiers defined by different types of criteria. The users belonging to such tiers respond back to the query with new information, which is rendered on the media device being used by the user. Such responses are then rendered on the media device of the user. Optionally, a computer assistance mode is operated where keywords are extracted from said communications between users, and such keywords a used to obtain additional results from a resource such as a search engine.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting data in TDM mode is provided to solve the problem in the prior art that the data processing between a transmitter side and a receiver side could not be real time and the delay time during data transmitting would be longer. The method comprises: packaging TIME DIVISION MULTIPLEXING (TDM) frame head information and data to be sent into a TDM frame at a transmitter side, and transmitting the TDM frame to a receiver side; receiving the TDM frame at the receiver side. With the solution according to the present invention, it is possible to perform real time data processing between the transmitter side and the receiver side and shorten the delay time during data transmitting.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for sending a message to a network device with a specific MAC address, in an IP network implementing a interne group management protocol IGMP, comprising: sending, by a network terminal, to the network device, a multicast group management status message including a destination address set as the specific MAC address.
Abstract:
An Integrated Circuit Design tool incorporating a Stochastic Analysis Process (“SAP”) is described. The SAP can be applied on many levels of circuit components including transistor devices, logic gate devices, and System-on-Chip or chip designs. The SAP replaces the large number of traditional Monte Carlo simulations with operations using a small number of sampling points or corners. The SAP is a hierarchical approach using a model fitting process to generate a model that can be used with any number of performance metrics to generate performance variation predictions along with corresponding statistical information (e.g., mean, three-sigma probability, etc.). A hierarchical SAP process breaks an overall circuit into a plurality of subcircuits and performs circuit simulation and SAP analysis steps on each subcircuit. An integration and reduction process combines the analysis results of each subcircuit, and a final SPICE/SAP process provides a model for the overall circuit based on the subcircuits.
Abstract:
A method for a node to select a route to join a multicast group in a wireless mesh network, including establishing the route between the node and the multicast group using media access control addresses is described. A method for determining a multicast group leader of the multicast group of a wireless mesh network using media access control addresses is also described.
Abstract:
A method for Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoding in a transmitter, the method comprising: receiving a data stream from a data source; generating a first Forward Error Correction data for respective data block with a first block size of the data stream; and generating a second Forward Error Correction data for respective data block with a second block size of the data stream, wherein the second block size is different with the first block size and wherein the data blocks of the first block size form the data stream, and the data blocks with the second block size form the data stream.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and system for supporting a beamforming antenna system in a multiple user mobile broadband communication network including a process for setting and adjusting the magnitude and phase of the signal to user equipment from each antenna. Namely, the present invention supports the communication of power signal values or levels to user equipment in a manner that keeps pace with the rapid variations of the power levels that occur in the dynamic scheduling of transmissions on the cell site. The present invention satisfies this need for an improved signal strength signaling to user equipment for the situation where multiple users are located on the cell site.
