Abstract:
In a surface acoustic wave device comprising an inter-digital electrode on a surface of a substrate wherein said substrate is a langasite single crystal belonging to a point group 32, a combination of a cut angle of the substrate out of the single crystal and a propagation direction of surface acoustic waves is optimized. This makes it possible to achieve a surface acoustic wave device comprising a substrate having a temperature coefficient of SAW velocity, TCV, the absolute value of which is small, a large electromechanical coupling factor k.sup.2, and low SAW velocity. It is thus possible to achieve a filter device which is improved in terms of temperature stability, has a wide passband, and is reduced in size, especially an intermediate-frequency surface acoustic wave filter having improved characteristics best-fitted for mobile communication terminal equipment.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a small yet wide-passband surface acoustic wave device that is excellent in selectivity, i.e., temperature characteristics. The surface acoustic wave device contains an interdigital electrode on the surface of a substrate made up of a langasite single crystal having the formula, La.sub.3 Ga.sub.5 SiO.sub.14, and belonging to a point group 32. When the cut angle of the substrate cut out of the langasite single crystal and the direction of propagation of a surface acoustic wave on the substrate are represented in terms of Euler's angles (.phi., .theta., and .psi.), .phi., 74 and .psi. are found within areas represented by .phi.=-5 to 5 , .theta.=136 to 146-, and .psi.=21 to 30, respectively. The relationship between the normalized thickness h/.lambda. (%) where the thickness, h, of the interdigital electrode is normalized with the wavelength .lambda. of a surface acoustic wave and the above .psi. (degree) indicating the direction of propagation of the surface acoustic wave is given by-3.79 (h/.lambda.)+23.86.ltoreq..psi..ltoreq.-5.08 (h/.lambda.)+26.96when .psi..ltoreq.25.5, andthe above relationship is given by4.39(h/.lambda.)+24.30.ltoreq..psi..ltoreq.3.54 (h/.lambda.)+27.17when .psi.>25.5.
Abstract:
A brushless three-phase synchronous generator includes a stator having primary generating windings and stator excitation windings whose number of poles is odd-number times the number of poles of the primary generating windings. The generator further includes a cylindrical rotor on which a plurality of field windings are wound in a full-pitch concentrated winding form. The plurality of field windings are respectively short-circuited by the corresponding diodes. A plurality of field windings in which voltages of the same phase are induced based on the odd-order spatial higher harmonic magnetic fields are connected in parallel and further connected in parallel to the central field windings which effectively produce primary field magnetic fluxes. A circulating rectifier element is connected in parallel to the central field windings. Improvement in the waveforms of the primary magnetic fields can be achieved and self-excitation in the case where the single-phase loads are connected can be prevented from occurring while magnetic coupling of the rotor field windings to the spatial higher harmonic components of the armature reaction magnetic fields is effectively maintained well.

Abstract:
An aspherical lens, which is to be used as an objective lens for an optical pickup of an optical disc apparatus, has at least one optical functional surface of the lens formed to be rotationally asymmetric so as to generate astigmatism of axial wavefront aberration for cancelling off-axis astigmatism. The lens is manufactured by press molding an optical material such as glass or resin. At least one of the dies is formed by etching a rotationally symmetric surface of a base material, unevenly. Thereby, the etched surface becomes rotationally asymmetrically aspherical in shape.

Abstract:
On a stator core, there are wound T-connection primary generating windings such that the second and third single-phase windings are respectively arranged at positions electrically orthogonal to the first single-phase winding. The winding number of the first single-phase winding is 31/2 times that of the second single-phase winding or the third single-phase winding. The stator excitation windings are also wound on the stator core, which are connected to the center taps of the primary generating windings through a control rectifier. A plurality of field windings are wound on a rotor core. The field windings are arranged at positions where they are magnetically coupled with both the odd-order spatial higher harmonic components of armature reaction magnetic fields produced by currents flowing in the primary generating windings and the static magnetic fields produced by current flowing in the stator excitation windings. Due to the T-connection primary generating windings, the generator is capable of simultaneously generating not only the three-phase outputs but also the single-phase three-line outputs.
Abstract:
Audio signals are compressed by selecting either a first compression mode providing high-quality sound and a relatively long processing time or a second compression mode having a shorter processing time in accordance with the contents of the audio input signals, for example, whether the signals are audio signals such as music or voice signals such as an announcement. By providing selectable compression time periods music can be enjoyed in high-quality sound, while the announcement of a message can be delivered satisfactorily without the loss of any information.
