Abstract:
The present invention comprises a unique starter assembly for a gas discharge lamp. The starter assembly comprises a main current path with a first leg connected to one electrode of a gas discharge lamp, and a second leg connected to a second electrode of the gas discharge lamp. A starting current path is provided between the first and second electrode, and comprises an magnetic switch. The magnetic switch is actuated by an electromagnet controlled by a control circuit. The control unit may be programmed with the start time required for a particular lamp design. In an alternative embodiment, the starter assembly further comprises a radio frequency identification system. The radio frequency identification system includes a gas discharge lamp transponder. The lamp transponder is used to communicate specific lamp information to the control circuit. The control circuit may then modify the start time for that lamp based on this information.
Abstract:
A fuel filter cartridge assembly employs a two piece housing to house a replaceable filter unit. The filter cartridge assembly incorporates a key system to ensure compatibility of a replacement filter unit for a given cartridge assembly. Keys formed on the filter unit cooperate with keyways formed in the housing to ensure that only filter units having key structures may be used. Each key may have a different angular position, angular dimension and radial projection. By varying the dimensions of the keys and/or the positions and/or the number of keys, a composite compatibility matrix comprising an infinite number of configuration sets are available to differentiate between filter units having differing flow capacities, filter media, disposal options or other characteristics.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a point-of-use water treatment system unit. The unit includes a filter housing assembly having a filter tank assembly and a closure which utilizes a handle and cammed reciprocating lock blades to secure the closure to the filter tank assembly. A UV tank assembly includes a planar baffle plate and a vaned baffle plate to induce plug flow about a UV lamp assembly. A UV lamp assembly is used which simultaneously electrically and sealingly mounts to a UV tank assembly and electrical cap assembly using a bayonet mount. A bi-planar manifold assembly is used to interconnect components of the WTS unit and to provide an envelope for accommodating a water pipe assembly. The bi-planar manifold assembly enhances the compactness of the design of the WTS unit. Also, a support plate is disclosed which provides support to subcomponents of the WTS unit while also dissipating heat from a UV tank assembly.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multi-element filtering system assuring serial filtration of a liquid through multiple filter cartridges while enabling flushing without requiring removal of the filter cartridges. Both conventional and reverse osmosis filtration is performed, sequentially, within the system. After filtration, the water is subjected to ultraviolet irradiation for purification. The filter cartridges are held within a canister which is pressed against the cap and constrained against rotation with the cap. The canister is divided into chambers, and has passages in its floor arranged to enable serial transfer of liquid from one chamber to the next. Flushing employs liquid introduced under normal pressure. Passages leading to the flush liquid outlet enable flushing to proceed when the flush liquid outlet is opened. At other times, filtered liquid will pass through passages leading to the filtered liquid outlet. Liquid is circulated to assure filtration even when flushing, so that contamination of filtered liquid is precluded.
Abstract:
A fuel filter comprises a head (96) having an inlet (100) and an outlet (102). The head is connected to an element (266) by a nipple portion (186) which has a valve element (196) therein. An actuating projection (222, 272) is engageable with said valve element to open flow through said nipple portion when the correct element is attached hereto. The actuating projection is further supported on a central portion (220, 276) which prevents connection to a nipple portion that extends too far into the element. According to a further embodiment, the filter includes a housing (412) with a removable element (424) mounted therein. The housing has an inlet port (414) in direct fluid communication with a chamber (418). The outlet port (416) is in direct fluid communication with a central standpipe (422). The standpipe has a flow element (442) movable therein for controlling the condition of flow openings (436) in the standpipe. The cover further includes a cover projection (482) for supporting a projection (478) on end cap (460) of the filter element, which opens flow into the standpipe only when the element is installed. A centering wall (486) is also provided on the cover which is received within a recess portion (704) of a well area of the end cap (460). The removable element can include first and second filter media rings (426, 716) where fluid is introduced between the rings and flows radially inward through the first media to a first outlet (416), and radially outward through the second media ring to a second outlet (710).
Abstract:
A wastewater skimmings dewatering unit that includes a drip bucket having a bucket compartment having an open top defined by a threaded lip and a bottom through which a number of drain opening are provided; a locking ring with the center opening and an internally threaded inner edge that is companionately threaded to engage the threaded lip of the drip bucket; a dewatering sack constructed from nylon mesh screening having a top edge that is sized to fit over the threaded lip of the drip bucket such that a sack bottom is suspended above the bottom and held in place by screwing the locking ring onto the threaded lip of the drip bucket.
Abstract:
A pressure vessel according to the present invention includes a housing with a cylindrical upper portion having a plurality of radially extending catch members on its circumference and a lid for mating with the housing with a cylindrical side edge having a plurality of hook-shaped retaining members spaced about its circumference to correspond with the catch members. A control system operates a lift to lower the lid onto the housing. A drive cylinder connected between the lid and the housing is then enabled to rotate the lid relative to the housing about its central axis between a locked position and an unlocked position. Spacers mounted to the inner surfaces of the retaining members act as bearings, guiding the lid as it rotates. As the lid rotates toward its locked position, finger portions of the retaining members cam into underlocking engagement with the catch members to draw the lid onto the housing. The control system disables the vessel by operating the drive cylinder in the reverse direction and then operating the lift to lift the lid from the housing.
Abstract:
Apparatus for filtering industrial liquids and gases by separation of suspension particles based on the principle of radial stationary filtering. The filtering apparatus comprises a cover (9), a body (6) and a base (19) whose volume is adjustable by altering the length of its body (6). A threaded rod is provided for sealing the unit and also for providing a sealed joint between a filter element (4), the cover (9) and the base (19). The threaded rod (2) can be tightened and untightened using a butterfly handle (11) without the use of other threaded connections. Depending on the liquid or the gas to be filtered, the filter medium will be made from towel-type paper or felt. The filter elements (4) come in a single size and a spacer device (22) is used to provide different lengths. The liquid or gas to be filtered is conveyed by a conical transmission conduit (16) past a circular rib (13) into the outer peripheral zone of the filter chamber (5). It then transits through the filter element (4) at right angles to the different layers of the latter to emerge in the central shaft (3). The filtered liquid or gas is discharged through a conical discharge pipe (18) through radial channels (12) and axial channel (21) in the threaded rod (2). The filtering apparatus of the invention provides, in particular, an effective, low cost solution to the problems of industrial filtering, with an objective of quality, long service life of industrial gases or liquids, or for ecological purposes.

A basket assembly is provided which is sized and adapted to be removably placed in the chamber and to carry the screen assembly.
Abstract:
A vibrating filter has a housing, a separation member, a filter, and a vibrator. The housing defines an outlet chamber and a filter chamber, and the separation member secures within the housing to separate the outlet chamber and the filter chamber. The filter secures within the filter chamber. The filter has an outlet matable with at least one hole in the separation member so that the filter is in fluid communication with the outlet chamber. The vibrator rigidly secures solely to the separation member for vibrating the separation member, thereby vibrating the filter. The vibrating filter also preferably has a cover for the outlet chamber and a vibration isolating structure secured between the separation member and the cover for dampening vibration to the cover which is imparted to the separation member by the vibrator.
