Abstract:
A device for a braked movement of furniture doors in particular with a horizontal rotation axis comprises two attachment pieces (11, 12, 211, 212, 311, 312, 411, 412) that are movable in opposite directions around a common rotation axis (13, 213, 313, 413) in a free manner in one rotation direction and against a resisting force of a friction joint in the other rotation direction. Between an attachment piece and the friction joint the device comprises a first surface (28, 228, 328, 428) and a second surface (27, 227, 327, 427) facing each other to delimit a space therebetween in which a wedging element (26, 226, 326, 426) is disposed. The extension of the facing surfaces and/or the shape of the wedging element between them are of such a nature that the wedging element tends to fixedly fit between said facing surfaces causing them to rotate integrally with each other when rotation of the two attachment pieces takes place in the direction that must involve a braked movement.
Abstract:
An internal entrapment system for a garage door operator (30), comprising a motor (48) for transferring a garage door (12) between first and second positions; a pulse counter (62) for detecting a speed of the garage door (12) during transfer between first and second positions; a potentiometer (56) for determining a plurality of positional locations of the garage door (12) during transfer between first and second positions separate from said pulse counter (62); and a control circuit (50) for calculating a motor torque value from the speed for each of said plurality of positional locations to compare with a plurality of door profile data points, wherein said control circuit (50) takes corrective action if the difference between the motor torque value for each of said plurality of positional locations and said plurality of door profile data points exceeds a predetermined threshold, and wherein said control circuit (50) updates said plurality of door profile data points to the motor torque values for each respective said plurality of positional locations if the predetermined threshold is not exceeded. In another embodiment both speed and position are detected by a slider element (58) which is connected to the control circuit (50). A closed loop lift cable system (100) may be employed for use with the internal entrapment system. The system (100) utilizes a lift cable (164) connected between a bottom section of the door and a drum mechanism (150) and an upper cable connected between a top section of the door and the drum mechanism (150). A tension device (180, 200) ensures that the door and cables act as one and thus allow closed loop control of the door.
Abstract:
A one-leaf or two-leaf sliding door, swinging/sliding door or pocket door, particularly for vehicles, has an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic drive. A nut is attached to the at least one door leaf and a spindle extends through the nut. A drive for moving the at least one door leaf is provided either to rotate the spindle directly or to linearly move the at least one door leaf. A freewheel is mounted on an end of the spindle, wherein the freewheel has a component which is stationary relative to but capable of rotating together with the spindle. A releasable brake or clutch is provided for preventing rotation of the freewheel component.
Abstract:
A pivoting and sliding closure assembly is provided which rides in a guide channel of a frame upon a pivot shoe assembly which at one end securely pivots a closure member upon one pivot shoe when the closure is pivoted away from the channel, and which latches the closure member in a slidable position when the closure member is pivoted to its latched position. The pivot shoes are connnected together in the assembly and unique cam structures and rollers are incorporated in the assembly.

Abstract:
A mechanical disk-type door closure wherein one end of the closure is connected to a door and the other end is pivotally connected to a door jam such that when the door pivots about its hinge. The closure includes a rod upon which a rack is formed to cause a pinion to rotate in one direction and which is in mesh with a gear so as to move the pinion out of contact with the rack. When the door closes, a spring moves the pinion into engagement with the rack and the pinion turns in a direction to rotate the gear which is subjected braking pressure so as to adjust the resistance to the closing motion of the door.
Abstract:
An automatic door operator for a swing door supported by a door supporting frame to swing about a vertical axis. The automatic door operator includes a mechanism for opening and closing the swing door, a drive for driving the door opening and closing mechanism to open the swing door, the drive including a prime mover for driving the door opening and closing mechanism, a door closer including a resilient device for storing part of mechanical energy provided by the drive in opening the swing door and for exerting driving force on the door opening and closing means by using the stored mechanical energy to close the door, a unit for electrically controlling the drive to swing the swing door, and a sensor for sensing a body accessing the door and thereby providing an electric signal to open the door to the controlling unit.
Abstract:
A hinge structure for automobile hoods, including a first bracket fixedly connected to the automobile hood, a second bracket fixedly connected to an automobile body, a link mechanism rotatably supporting both brackets by a link mechanism, an urging mechanism for urging the first bracket into the raising direction thereof, the hinge structure characterized in that a link connecting member having an elastic portion is fixed to the autobomile body at the rotating position of the link mechanism upon fully opening the automobile hood and the link mechanism is connected to the link connecting member by bending the elastic member.
Abstract:
A safety device for automatically closing a door in response to a predetermined condition, such as fire, is provided by a selectively disengageable brake operatively associated with a pivotable door closure arm. The brake includes a flexible cable wrapped around a brake drum, and means to selectively tighten the cable around the drum. A crank-pin rotates conjointly with the drum and engages the door closure arm to expeditiously close the door in the event of fire.
Abstract:
The power drive and speed control means for a revolving door along with related electrical control circuitry and mechanical components are all contained compactly in the center shaft or column of the door structure. Costly and time-consuming servicing of parts mounted in the ceiling or floor is eliminated.
