Abstract:
A flexible heat insulation product (1) comprising a flexible heat insulating core layer (4) with a first side (3) and a second side (9), and a flexible facing (2) that is connected to the first side (3) of the insulating core layer (4) by a plurality of elements (7) that extends from the facing (2) to the second side (9) of the insulating core layer (4). The insulation product (1) further comprises a flexible heat insulating cover layer (8) that is secured to the second side (9) of the insulating core layer (4). A method for producing such a product is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for providing a fire safe penetration in a building element, especially in a ceiling, floor or in a lightweight wall comprising a framework of profile elements and at least one outer covering being fixed to said profile elements. For providing a fire safe penetration in a building element, for example a lightweight building wall, in such a manner that the building element or insert can be easily manufactured and installed while guaranteeing the high requirements of flame and smoke resistance of such a building element or the insert, the invention proposes the following consecutive steps: arranging an insert between the profile elements at a location for a pipe or conduit penetration in a way that the insert is arranged adjacently to the outer covering and is at least partly covered by the outer covering; providing an opening in the outer covering and the insert for a pipe or conduit; arranging the pipe or conduit through the outer covering and the insert and securing fire and/or smoke tightness between the pipe or conduit and the insert and/or outer covering.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mineral fibre-containing composite and the novel mineral fibre-containing element produced by that method.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the production of a mineral melt burns combustible material in the presence of inorganic material to form a melt. The apparatus includes a circulating combustion chamber which receives a fuel, pre-heated mineral material and a combustion gas, melts the mineral material and generates exhaust gases which are separated from the melt. The gases pass through an exhaust pipe to a conduit of a heat exchange system. The apparatus includes a quenching hood for quenching the exhaust gases by drafting a cooling fluid, such as ambient air, into the flow of exhaust gases around the exhaust pipe, and wherein the exhaust gases exit the exhaust pipe inside the hood.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a metal sheet (15) ventilation/smoke exhaust duct section (10) for incorporation into a metal sheet ventilation/smoke exhaust duct, said metal sheets (15) being covered on the outside by a heat insulating material (20) and said duct section (10) including elongated stiffening bar members (30) located on the outside of the duct and attached to said metal sheets (15), the invention being characterized in said bar members (30) being located at a distance from said metal sheets (15), said bar members (30) being attached to said metal sheets (15) at discrete locations along the length of the bar members (30).
Abstract:
An aqueous binder composition for mineral fibers comprises: (a) a sugar syrup containing a reducing sugar and having a dextrose equivalent DE of at least 50 and less than 85; (b) a polycarboxylic acid component; (c) an amine component; and, optionally, (d) a reaction product of a polycarboxylic acid component (b) and an amine component (c).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of making a mineral melt comprising providing a circulating combustion chamber (1) which comprises an upper zone (2), a lower zone (3) and a base zone (4), injecting particulate fuel, particulate mineral material and primary combustion gas which has optionally an oxygen level of at least 25% by volume into the upper zone of the circulating combustion chamber so that the fuel undergoes pyrolysis in the upper zone to produce char, thereby melting the particulate mineral materials to form a mineral melt and generating exhaust gases, injecting secondary combustion gas which has optionally an Oxygen level of at least 25% by volume into the lower zone of the circulating combustion chamber so that the char combusts, thereby completing combustion of the fuel, and separating the mineral melt from the hot exhaust gases so that the hot exhaust gases pass though an outlet in the circulating combustion chamber and the mineral melt collects in the base zone. The melt is optionally fiberised. The invention also relates to apparatus suitable for use in the method.
Abstract:
An acoustic panel (1) has a recess (8) extending part or all way down to a facing (7). A panel loudspeaker (11) may be fixed in the recess or a water sprinkler (14) or other device may be mounted in or above the recess.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a substrate for a soil-free cultivating or growing of plants. The substrate comprises slab (2) of fibrous material. Further quantification means (5) are provided. The quantification means allow for essentially non-destructive visualisation and/or monitoring of plant development. Thus plant growth, especially root growth can be monitored, where such monitoring no longer requires the sacrifice of any plants.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mineral wool plant substrate comprising a coherent matrix of mineral wool and up to 20 volume % of an ion-exchange agent comprising a variable and/or fixed ion-exchange capacity of about 15, preferably 30 and most preferably 40 meq/100 g dry weight or more.
