Abstract:
An armrest adjustment mechanism for use with a vehicle seat defining a lateral seat axis and an armrest member defining a longitudinal axis. The mechanism includes a mounting system for pivotally mounting the armrest member on the vehicle seat for selective pivotal rotation about the lateral seat axis between a deployed design configuration, wherein the longitudinal axis has a substantially horizontal orientation, and a raised stowed configuration, wherein the longitudinal axis has a substantially vertical orientation. The mechanism also includes a lateral translation system for positive inward displacement of the armrest member along the lateral seat axis relative to the vehicle seat as the armrest member is rotated from the deployed design configuration towards the raised stowed configuration.
Abstract:
A low-profile, tri-filar, helix antenna with linear polarization or circular polarization (CP) includes a single feed without an internal feed network. The antenna includes three metal, bent, quarter-wave monopoles positioned at 0°, 120°, and 240° on a top surface of the antenna. One of the monopoles is directly fed, and the other two are parasitically coupled to the fed monopole. Metal perturbations on the parasitic monopoles control their coupling phase to the fed monopole, and determine the antenna's polarization. Without metal perturbations, the parasitic monopoles are linear polarized and both monopoles are coupled to the fed monopole at ±120. With metal perturbations, the parasitic monopoles are CP polarized and coupled at +120 degrees to the fed monopole. Various perturbations, capacitive and inductive shunts options are possible. The three monopoles are supported by a dielectric substrate, or they are freestanding.
Abstract:
ATM cells are used to transmit information supplied in the form of a series of separate, identically structured entities each corresponding to a whole independently usable by a given application. Each entity is transmitted as cells whose information field is identically composed of modules of fixed position and fixed size. A first module constitutes a cell continuity index. A second module contains entity data to be transmitted. A final module is established by means of a B. C. H. block type error detector-corrector code. A transmitter and a receiver include apparatus for implementing the method between a source application and a destination application across an ATM network.
Abstract:
A device and to a method for generating control signals is set forth. The device according to the present invention allows the generation, from a single time reference, of the write control (WE) and read control (RE) signals for the information relating to a video line in a storage device (7, 8, 17, 18, 20). In this way, possible shifts between the synchronization of two successive lines due in particular to the transmission are overcome. The device according to the present invention is applied in particular to the generation, from a common time reference, of write signals and of read signals for a storage device (7, 8, 17, 18, 20) intended for storing a video image line. The invention applies principally to the production of devices for unscrambling scrambled television transmissions, particularly pay television transmissions.
Abstract:
In order to scramble as effectively as possible pay-television transmissions, the transmitter is made to transmit, at one and the same time, access messages and entitlement messages, all of them crypted and corresponding to a control word periodically loaded into a pseudo-random generator. In each receiver, the decoder comprises a control unit processing the various messages and sending them to a security processor which supplies a control word to the pseudo-random generator controlling the unscrambling.
Abstract:
An assembly for maturing distilled spirits comprises a shipping container and a racking system positioned within the shipping container. The racking system includes a racking column attached to a pair of racking rails for supporting one or more barrels inside the shipping container. An external surface of the side walls of the shipping container has a light reflective value of less than about 10 while an external surface of the roof of the shipping container has a light reflective value of about 75 or more to induce a convective air flow around the racking system. Systems for maturing distilled spirits include a plurality of the assemblies for maturing distilled spirits in a stacked configuration. Methods for maturing distilled spirits comprise placing a plurality of barrels including distilled spirits on the racking system of an assembly for a period of time and under conditions sufficient to age the distilled spirits.
Abstract:
The twist axle assembly includes a pair of spaced apart trailing arms and a twist beam of which extends in a first direction between the trailing arms. The twist beam includes a pair of end portions and a middle portion. The twist beam further has a pair of side walls and at least one additional wall that extends between the side walls. The side walls in the middle portion are generally parallel with the side walls of the end portions. The twist beam is generally hour-glass shaped with the middle portion having a first width and the end portions have a greater second width. The twist beam also tapers from the first width of the middle portion to the second widths of the end portions for gradually increasing a torsional stiffness from the middle portion to the end portions.
Abstract:
A cooling system may be operable to cool a battery pack or other device through a heat exchange operation supported, at least in part, with cycling of a coolant relative to a coldplate or other thermally conducting surface of the device and/or attached thereto. The system may include a coldplate operable to exchange heat with a battery pack; and a coolant tank operable to exchange heat with the coldplate, the tank having a channel for directing a coolant flow in a direction from an inlet of the tank to at least one outlet of the tank and an inlet accumulator between the inlet and a beginning of the channel, wherein the inlet accumulator is wider along the coolant flow direction than the channel and the inlet and having a sloped side leading towards the channel configured to pool the coolant flow prior to entry into the channel.
Abstract:
An automatic medication dispensing device for dispensing medication to a patient including a medication dispensing unit having at least one tablet dispensing cartridge for receiving and retaining a plurality of tablets. The cartridge is electronically controlled by a computer system configured to receive a signal and activate the cartridge to dispense a tablet. The cartridge has a tablet receiving space for receiving and retaining a plurality of tablets in a vertical stack and a tablet dispensing opening to allow for at least one tablet to be dispensed from the cartridge. A moveable ram is associated with the cartridge to engage a single tablet in the vertical stack and expel the single tablet from the cartridge.
