Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and processors for reducing memory latency in the presence of barriers. When a barrier operation is executed, subsequent memory access operations are delayed until the barrier operation retires. While the memory access operation is delayed, the memory access operation is converted into a prefetch request and sent to the L2 cache. Then, data corresponding to the prefetch request is retrieved and stored in the L1 data cache. When the memory access operation wakes up, the data for the operation will already be stored in the L1 data cache, reducing the memory latency of the operation.
Abstract:
A surface treatment robot includes a chassis having forward and rear ends and a drive system carried by the chassis. The drive system includes right and left driven wheels and is configured to maneuver the robot over a cleaning surface. The robot includes a vacuum assembly, a collection volume, a supply volume, an applicator, and a wetting element, each carried by the chassis. The wetting element engages the cleaning surface to distribute a cleaning liquid applied to the surface by the applicator. The wetting element distributes the cleaning liquid along at least a portion of the cleaning surface when the robot is driven in a forward direction. The wetting element is arranged substantially forward of a transverse axis defined by the right and left driven wheels, and the wetting element slidably supports at least about ten percent of the mass of the robot above the cleaning surface.
Abstract:
Illustrative embodiments of semiconductor devices including a polar insulation layer capped by a non-polar insulation layer, and methods of fabrication of such semiconductor devices, are disclosed. In at least one illustrative embodiment, a semiconductor device may comprise a semiconductor substrate, a polar insulation layer disposed on the semiconductor substrate and comprising a Group V element configured to increase a carrier mobility in at least a portion of the semiconductor substrate, and a non-polar insulation layer disposed above the polar insulation layer.
Abstract:
This invention describes soluble, monovalent, non-natural protein molecules that can activate NK cells and certain T-cells to attack specific cellular target cells by attaching the NKG2D-binding portions of monovalent MICA or MICB protein, i.e. their α1-α2 platform domain, to the intended target cell specifically. The α1-α2 domain is contiguous with a heterologous α3 domain that has been genetically modified to bind directly or indirectly to the extracellular aspect of the target cell, thereby serving as the targeting domain. The genetic modification to create a non-natural and non-terminal targeting motif within the α3 domain can include a portion of an antibody, another protein molecule or portion thereof, a peptide, or a non-natural, modified α3 domain of a MIC protein.

Abstract:
A showerhead system includes an arm structure adapted to couple to a water pipe to receive water flow therefrom. The arm structure includes a first fluid conduit, a second fluid conduit, and a mode selector operatively coupled to the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit. The mode selector transitions between a first setting to direct water flow from a first chamber to a second chamber positioned below the first chamber and a second setting to direct water flow from the first chamber to a third chamber positioned below the first chamber. The second chamber is in fluid communication with the first fluid conduit and the third chamber is in fluid communication with the second fluid conduit. The showerhead system further includes a spray head configured to distribute the water from at least one of the first and second the fluid conduits.
Abstract:
A heart pump is provided that comprises an elongate catheter body, an impeller disposed at the distal end of the elongate catheter body, and one or more bearings positioned between the catheter body and the impeller. A fluid supply line for delivering infusant into the catheter is provided. A fluid return line for transporting infusant out of the catheter is also provided. A pump assembly for regulating the infusant flow along the fluid supply line and fluid return line is provided as part of an infusion system.
Abstract:
A system for supplying power to a drilling rig has an engine/generator with an output line so as to transfer power therefrom, an energy storage system connected to the engine/generator, and a load connected to the energy storage system such that power from the energy storage system is directly transferred to the load and such that power from the engine/generator is electrically isolated from the load. The engine/generator has a capacity greater than an maximum power requirement of the load. The energy storage system can include at least one battery.
Abstract:
A solder paste transfer process is provided and includes defining multiple arrangements of solder pad locations on a surface, applying solder paste onto multiple transfer tools coupled to a fixture in a pre-defined configuration reflective of the multiple arrangements, disposing the fixture such that the multiple transfer tools are disposed in an inverted orientation proximate to the surface and reflowing the solder paste to flow from the multiple transfer tools to the solder pad locations.
