Abstract: An antenna overlay system includes antenna hardware, a communication link, and electronic circuitry disposed on a substrate. The communication link couples the electronic circuitry to the antenna hardware. During operation, the electronic circuitry in communication with the antenna hardware is operable to control transmission and reception of wireless signals in a wireless region. An adhesive layer disposed on a surface of the substrate couples the substrate to an object such as a window. In one arrangement, the window is a low-E glass windowpane that substantially attenuates wireless signals from being received by communication equipment in a building in which the windowpane is installed. The antenna overlay system provides enhanced RF signal reception and transmission.

Abstract: A network includes a first candidate pool of multiple upper-layer communication processing units and a second candidate pool of lower-layer communication processing units to support the split-layer processing. Initially, a first upper-layer processing unit and a first lower-layer processing unit in the network provide a first service over a wireless communication link established between a wireless access point and a communication device in a network. In response to receiving a request to support a second service, the network notifies the first upper-layer processing unit of the second service. If a combination of the first upper-layer processing unit and the first lower-layer processing unit cannot support the second service, the first upper-layer processing unit selects a second upper-layer processing unit. The selected second upper-layer processing unit selected from the first candidate pool is used in conjunction with the first lower-layer processing unit to support the second service.

Abstract: A first communications device including a transmitter identifies a packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first wireless communications device transmits an explicit indication in a downlink message to a second wireless communications device, to skip Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for data, corresponding to the first packet flow, said data being directed to the second wireless communications device. In some embodiments, said explicit indication to skip Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for data is a predetermined value in a predetermined field of a downlink control information (DCI) scheduling message. In some embodiments, the predetermined field is a PDSCH-to-HARQ feedback timing indicator field. HARQ suppression is applied for the first packet flow at a radio link layer and/or MAC layer, e.g., by the second communications device in response to the predetermined value indicating HARQ suppression being recovered from the predetermined field.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for unified high-bandwidth, low-latency data services provided with enhanced user mobility. In one embodiment, a network architecture having service delivery over at least portions of extant infrastructure (e.g., a hybrid fiber coax infrastructure) is disclosed, which includes standards-compliant ultra-low latency and high data rate services (e.g., 5G NR services) via a common service provider. In one variant, an expanded frequency band (e.g., 1.6 GHz in total bandwidth) is used over the coaxial portions of the HFC infrastructure, which is allocated to two or more sub-bands. Wideband amplifier apparatus are used to support delivery of the sub-bands to extant HFC network nodes (e.g., hubs or distribution points) within the network. Premises devices are used to provide the 5G-based services to users at a given premises and thereabouts. In another variant, local area (e.g., “pole mounted”) radio devices are used to provide supplemental RF coverage, including during mobility scenarios.

Abstract: A base station in a first wireless network provides first wireless connectivity to user equipment operated by a subscriber. The first wireless network supports first wireless communications such as non-voice communications. A network management resource receives configuration information assigned to the subscriber operating the user equipment. The configuration information indicates that the subscriber is assigned use of a second wireless network that provides support of second wireless communications (such as voice communications). In response to detecting a trigger event (such as a voice call) indicating a need to switch to use of the second wireless network, the network management resource initiates termination of the first wireless connectivity and establishment of second wireless connectivity between the user equipment and a base station in the second wireless network.

Abstract: A first communications device including a transmitter, such as a base station or UE, identifies a first packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first communications device assigns said first packet flow to a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process which does not require generation of acknowledgements (ACKs) or negative acknowledgements (NAKs) from a device receiving data corresponding to said first packet flow; and transmits data corresponding to said first packet flow to a second communications device. In some embodiments, the HARQ process to which the first packet flow is assigned is a dedicated HARQ suppression process. In some embodiments, the HARQ process to which the first packet flow is assigned is a HARQ process which has been temporarily designated as a HARQ suppression process. HARQ suppression is applied for the first packet flow at a radio link layer and/or MAC layer.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for content fragmentation, distribution, protection, and re-constitution within a content distribution network. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods enable distribution of content fragments to edge nodes (which may include user or subscriber CPE), thereby enabling edge networks or membership groups to be established wherein content can be shared solely at the edge. In one variant, high data bandwidth, symmetric uplink/downlink, low latency PHY links (e.g., 5G NR-compliant wireless interfaces) between the edge nodes participating in the edge networks or membership groups are used such that particular quality of service/experience performance requirements can be met. Distribution of the fragments also advantageously enhances redundancy and security.
