    Abstract: Methods for limiting bleed-through of aqueous catalyst solutions in ceramic articles are described herein. The methods include applying a hydrophobic cellulose derivative, such as ethylcellulose, to an exterior surface of a fired porous ceramic article. The aqueous catalyst solution is applied to the fired porous ceramic article, such that the hydrophobic cellulose derivative limits bleed-through of the aqueous catalyst solution through at least a portion of the ceramic article. Ceramic articles with skins that limit bleed-through of aqueous catalyst solutions are also described herein.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a polarizing article including the steps of depositing a dichroic dye on a first surface of a substrate and fixing the dichroic dye to form a polarizing layer. The polarizing layer is impregnated with at least one silane compound to form an impregnated polarizing layer. A light curable primer is applied over the impregnated polarizing layer, and is cured using an irradiating light to form a cured primer layer. An abrasion resistant protective composition is applied to the cured primer layer, and the protective composition is cured to form a cured abrasion resistant protective coating. The light curable primer includes at least one (meth)acrylate reactive diluent, at least one unsaturated oligomer, and at least one photoinitiator for free radical-initiated polymerizations. The polarizing article includes a polarizing article made according to the method disclosed herein.

    Abstract: Articles comprise a substrate and a conductive film disposed on a surface of the substrate. The conductive film comprises a volume resistivity in a range from about 0.01 Ohm-centimeters to about 10-3 Ohm-centimeters. The conductive film comprises a pencil hardness of about 8H or more. The conductive film comprises a scratch resistance of about 3 Newtons or more. Methods of forming articles comprise disposing a conductive ink on a surface of the substrate. Methods comprise heating the conductive ink at a first temperature from about 100° C. to about 250° C. for a first period of time to form a conductive film. The conductive ink comprises a conductive filler, a reactive, silane-containing binder, and a solvent.
