摘要: A miniature DIN connector is provided for mounting to a circuit board. The miniature DIN connector comprises a molded nonconductive housing having a plurality of apertures therein for receiving electrically conductive terminals. The housing includes an array of channels for positively positioning the board contact portions extending from the terminals and preventing lateral movement thereof. An internal shield is mountable in the housing to substantially surround pin-receiving portions of the terminals. The housing is lockingly engageable with a base, which in turn is mountable to the circuit board. The base includes apertures through which the board contact portions of the terminals may be directed. An external shield is disposed around four sides of the miniature DIN connector. The external and internal shields may include extensions into recesses in the front of the housing that provide ground contact to a conductive chassis panel abutting the front of the miniature DIN connector. The internal and external shields are not connected to one another, however the external shield may include a contact for directly contacting the shield of a DIN connector plug.

摘要: A pedestal connector that incorporates one or more grouped element channel link transmission lines is seen to have a dielectric body and two opposing contact ends that are intended to contact opposing contacts or traces. The dielectric body has an S-shaped configuration such that the transmission lines supported thereon make at least one change in direction, thereby permitting the use of such connector to interconnect elements lying in two different planes. The transmission lines include slots that extend within the frame and which define opposing, conductive surfaces formed on the dielectric body which are separated by an intervening air gap.

摘要: Termination assemblies for terminating high-frequency data signal transmission lines include housings with one or more cavities that receive ends of the transmission line therein. The transmission line typically includes a dielectric body and a plurality of conductive elements disposed thereon, with the plurality of conductive elements being arranged in pairs for differential signal transmission. The termination assemblies, in one embodiment include hollow end caps that are formed from a dielectric and which have one or more conductive contacts or plated surfaces disposed on or within the cavity so that they will frictionally mate with the conductive traces on the transmission line. In another embodiment, a connector housing is provided with a center slot and a plurality of dual loop contacts to provide redundant circuit paths and low inductance to the termination assembly. A coupling element may be utilized in the slot to achieve a desired level of coupling between the termination contacts.

摘要: A terminal contact arrangement for a connector promotes reduction in deviation of the impedance of the connector when mated to an opposing connector and energized. The connector has an insulative housing with a plurality of terminal-receiving passages disposed in it. Conductive terminals are supported in some, but not all of the passages. The terminal contain distinct terminal sets that include a pair of differential signal terminals and at least two associated ground reference terminals. The two associated ground reference terminals are interconnected together so that electrically, they act as a single ground terminal having a width equal to the sum of the widths of the two connected ground reference terminals. The ground reference terminals of the sets are disposed in a single row of terminals, while the differential signal terminals of the same terminal set are disposed in another row of terminals spaced apart from the row of ground reference terminals. The differential signal terminals are separated from each other within their terminal row by an empty passage so that the two differential signal terminals of each terminal set are spaced farther apart from each other than they are spaced apart from their associated ground reference terminals.

摘要: A flexible circuit member includes first and second pseudo-twisted flexible conductors on a flexible dielectric substrate. The first pseudo-twisted conductor is on a first side of the substrate and the second pseudo-twisted conductor is on a second side of the substrate. Each pseudo-twisted conductor includes a periodic pattern with the first pseudo-twisted conductor being shifted longitudinally relative to the second pseudo-twisted conductor by one half of a period of the periodic pattern. A set of first and second additional conductors are also provided on the dielectric substrate. The first additional conductor is on the first side of the substrate and is spaced from and generally follows the shape of the first pseudo-twisted conductor. The second additional conductor is on the second side of the substrate and is spaced from and generally follows the shape of the second pseudo-twisted conductor. These first and second additional conductors may be coupled to reference or ground potential so as to provide a grounding system for the flexible circuit member.

摘要: A connector having an improved impedance aspect is provided with a triplet of conductive terminals for mating with opposing ground and signal terminals. Each triplet of the connector includes a pair of signal terminals and an associated ground terminal, with each terminal having a contact portion, a body portion and a mounting portion. The contact portion of the ground terminal overlies the contact portions of the signal terminals to provide an increased ground plane surface area. The body portion of the ground terminal is aligned with and extends between the body portions of the two signal terminals. With this arrangement, the impedance of the connector may be tuned to obtain an impendance with a reduced discontinuity through the connector as compared to similar connectors.

摘要: A connector assembly for terminating a shielded insulated wire having a conductor core with a sheath of insulation therearound, an outer insulating jacket and a shield between the sheath and the jacket. The assembly includes a dielectric housing mounting an electrically conductive signal terminal for termination to the conductor core of the wire. A conductive grounding terminal is disposed outside the dielectric housing and has an insulation piercing section for displacing the outer insulating jacket of the wire to engage the shield thereof, in response to the application of a force on the grounding terminal generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the wire. The assembly is applicable for terminating a series of shielded insulated wires, with a plurality of conductive separator plates insert molded to the dielectric housing and individually disposed between adjacent individual signal terminals. When the assembly terminates a plurality of shielded insulated wires, the grounding terminal is a unitary component having shielding portions along two opposite sides of the signal terminals, with the separator plates along the other opposite sides of the signal terminals.
