A method of assembling a stringed instrument includes mounting a plate structure to a neck and fingerboard of the stringed instrument, where the plate includes an integrated rail, and mounting a headblock to an interior surface of a body of the stringed instrument, where the headblock has an integrated channel structure for receiving the integrated rail of the plate structure.

One embodiment is an implant for use in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence that includes an implantable, elongated tape having a multiplicity of openings formed through the thickness thereof, the tape having a first end region and a second end region longitudinally opposite the first end region, and first and second bio-compatible fixation elements attached to the first and second end regions of the tape respectively. Each bio-compatible fixation element has a tissue adherence property greater than that of the tape.

摘要： A surgical guide and its use in medical procedures such as to treat female urinary incontinence are provided. The guide preferably includes a stem portion having a proximal end and a distal end and a cross-sectional shape having a recess therein along its length and first and second extension portions extending outwardly from opposites sides of the distal end of the stem portion. Each of said first and second extension portions further include a stationary portion that is fixedly coupled to the stem portion and a movable portion that is movably coupled to the stationary portion. The movable portions are movable relative to the respective stationary portions between a first position wherein the stem portions extends beyond the extension portions by a first distance and a second position wherein the stem portion extends beyond the extension portions by a second distance that is greater than the first distance.

摘要： A packaging assembly for packaging a surgical device including first and second needle assemblies at least a distal portion of which having a curved configuration including an inner package member having first and second recesses sized and shaped for receiving at least a handle portion of the first and second needle assemblies. The recesses extend inwardly from the distal end of the inner package member a distance so that the distal curved portions of the needle assemblies extend beyond the distal end of the inner package. The distal end has a height such that the curved distal portions do not contact a surface on which the inner package member rests. The assembly further includes an outer package member dimensioned to removably receive therein the inner package member and the surgical device. The outer package member has a height sufficient so that when the inner package member and surgical devices are received therein, the outer package element remains substantially clear from contact with the surgical devices. The inner package member and surgical device can be removed from the outer package member and placed on a substantially flat surface in a manner such that the surgical device retains its orientation, and the distal portions of the needle assemblies remain clear of the surface.

摘要： The invention is directed to non-invasive methods and apparatus for three-dimensional measurement of surface profile and/or volume, and analysis of surface texture for evaluation of wound repair, assessment of surgical reconstructions or treatment of hypertrophic scarring, evaluation of polymerization reactions for polymer and elastomeric curing processes, or in any industrial process requiring quantitative monitoring of surface texture and profile. Both volume and surface texture are quantitatively measured very accurately, and the apparatus and method can be used on both soft and hard surfaces according to the above objectives. The invention generally comprises an apparatus and method to image a three-dimensional surface for volumetric analysis and/or surface texture. The apparatus includes a laser source for emitting a predetermined wavelength beam which is reflected off the surface being imaged, and a laser detector or sensor positioned relative to the laser source for receiving the reflected beam to generate a first signal corresponding to the amount of laser energy reflected off the surface. The reflected beam is indicative of changes in the depth of the surface relative to the laser source, and can therefore be used to monitor changes in surface depth. Further, a sound source is provided for generating a coherent beam of sound waves which are reflected off the surface also. A sound detector positioned relative to the sound source receives reflected sound waves to generate at least a second signal corresponding to the amount of sound waves reflected off the surface, wherein the reflected sound waves are a measure of the surface texture. A control system selectively operates the laser source and sound source for generating the signals at a plurality of locations on the surface for analysis. The apparatus may be portable, and provides a quick and accurate quantitative measurement of a surface, and can be used in association with both hard and soft surfaces.

摘要： Immunization of animals with preparations containing more purified forms of glucosyltransferase (GTF) results in the presence of antibody in saliva demonstrable by functional inhibitions of enzyme activity and binding of radioactive enzyme. Serum antibody was also present. Immunized groups of animals had lower mean caries scores than comparably sham-immunized or nonimmunized control groups. Local immunization with GTF of serotype c or g of a Streptococcus mutans reduces the colonization, caries, and lesions caused by infection with S. mutans of serotype g (strain 6715) or c, or with serotype g or c, or with serotype a or g, respectively.

A fixation plate is coupled with the threaded shaft. The fixation plate has a proximal face that opposes the underside of the screw head, a distal face that faces away from the underside of the screw head, an outer peripheral edge that extends between the proximal and distal faces, a central opening for receiving the threaded shaft, and protrusions spaced from one another around the outer peripheral edge that extend distally beyond the distal face of the fixation plate. The system includes an insertion tool having a handle and a tubular shaft extending distally from the handle. The tubular shaft has a proximal shaft section having an inner diameter that closely matches an outer diameter of the screw head, and a distal shaft section having an inner surface with a groove that seats the outer peripheral edge of the fixation plate for releasable retaining the fixation plate within the distal shaft section.

摘要： A surgical device for inserting an anchor, including a handle having an actuator, an outer barrel shaft extending from the handle to a distal end and having a channel therethrough, and an outer barrel tip the distal end thereof having an elastomeric septum, a drive pin within the channel, and an implantable anchor removably coupled to the drive pin. The outer barrel shaft is coupled to an actuator for movement between a first extended position wherein the outer barrel shaft tip substantially cover the anchor, and a second retracted position where the outer barrel shaft tip do not cover the anchor. When the shaft is in the first position, the elastomeric septum of the outer barrel tip circumferentially surrounds and engages the anchor to thereby stabilize the anchor prior to deployment, and when the shaft is in the second position, the elastomeric septum does not engage the anchor.
