A preform, a method of producing the preform, and a container obtained by draw-forming the preform. The preform has at least a layer of a polyester resin and is formed by the compression-forming, wherein the time is not shorter than 300 seconds before a calorific value of isothermal crystallization of the layer of the polyester resin at 210° C. reaches a maximum value. The preform is provided suppressing the thermal decomposition of the resin at the time of forming the preform, and effectively suppressing a drop in the inherent viscosity and the formation of the acetaldehyde. Further, a biaxially drawn container is provided having excellent mechanical strength and flavor-retaining property.

The object of the present invention is to provide an oxygen-absorbing resin composition having a high oxygen absorbability and capable of absorbing oxygen for a long period of time. The present invention provides an oxygen-absorbing resin composition comprising polyolefin resin (A) obtained by polymerizing an olefin having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, resin (B) which is other than resin (A) and which acts as a trigger for the oxidation of resin (A), and transition metal catalyst (C), wherein resin (B) is dispersed in the matrix of resin (A) so that the oxidation reaction of matrix resin (A) is caused and thus oxygen is absorbed when the oxygen-absorbing resin composition is brought into contact with oxygen. This oxygen absorbing resin composition has a high oxygen absorbability and is advantageous in cost because oxygen is absorbed in resin (A).

A packaging material having an oxygen-absorbing layer of a thermoplastic resin which is blended with an organic oxidizing component and with a transition metal catalyst, wherein the thermoplastic resin is not substantially oxidized in the presence of the transition metal catalyst. The thermoplastic resin is not deteriorated by oxidation and, hence, oxygen-barrier property is not deteriorated, making it possible to stably suppress the permeation of oxygen over extended periods of time.

An organic resin-coated seamless can with necked-in portion is disclosed, which is produced by subjecting a resin-coated steel sheet to drawing-re-drawing for reducing thickness or to drawing-re-drawing-ironing for reducing thickness-ironing and which has a ratio of diameter of necked-in portion to diameter of body of 0.9 or less than that, said steel sheet being coated by 5- to 30-.mu.m thick organic resin layer on both surfaces of aluminum-killed, surface-treated steel sheet of 0.01 to 0.13 % by weight in total carbon amount and not more than 6.5 .mu.m in average grain diameter having been subjected to over-aging after continuous annealing to adjust to not more than 10 ppm in solid-dissolved carbon amount. This can scarcely has rough surface or pinholes in the necked-in portion even when the necked-in portion has been considerably compressed upon its formation.
