摘要： A cylinder head gasket includes a pair of first and second gasket substrates. The gasket substrates are each formed with a first and a second projection which project in opposite directions, with a clearance therebetween. According to a first aspect of the invention, each projection undergoes a plastic deformation toward the clearance defined between them when the gasket substrates are held sandwiched between a cylinder head and a cylinder block, each projection undergoing a magnitude of plastic deformation which is greater or lesser in accordance with the magnitude of a surface pressure therebetween. According to a second aspect of the invention, each projection is formed with a radially central part which projects toward the radially central part of the other projection and which is in close contact with each other continuously in the circumferential direction.

摘要： Disclosed is a power transmission apparatus to detect the deterioration state of a timing belt in use, thereby making it possible to detect at a high accuracy whether or not the timing belt reaches an exchanging time. The power transmission apparatus comprises a crankshaft pulley, an intake camshaft pulley, and a timing belt wound around the crankshaft pulley and the intake camshaft pulley. The timing belt contains a stress light emission material capable of emitting light when receiving an external force. The power transmission apparatus further comprises an optical sensor and an ECU. The optical sensor is disposed to measure light emitted from the timing belt. The ECU is operative to judge whether or not the timing belt is deteriorated and to judge that the timing belt reaches the exchanging time when the timing belt is judged to be deteriorated.

摘要： A cylinder block 3 of an engine 1 is formed by assembling an inner block member 10 and an outer block member 15. The inner block member 10 includes an upper deck portion 7 integrated with a cylinder liner portion 8. The outer block member 15 includes a cylinder outer wall portion 12. The cylinder head 2 is fastened to an upper deck portion 7 with head bolts 31. The cylinder outer wall portion 12 is fastened to the upper deck portion 7 with block fastening bolts 32 at an opposite side of the upper deck portion 7 with respect to the cylinder head 2. The head bolts 31 and the block fastening bolts 32 are threaded with the upper deck portion 7 from the opposite sides with respect to each other. As a result, deformation of the upper deck portion 7 and inclination of the cylinder liner portion 8 due to fastening of the bolts 31, 32 are reliably prevented.

A first lead member has a portion closer to one end thereof, embedded in the first container segment, the first lead member portion, bent as embedded in the first container segment and led out of the container to outside thereof. A second lead member has a portion closer to one end thereof, embedded in the second container segment, bent as embedded in the second container segment and extending through the extension to outside of the container. The first lead member portion and the second lead member portion have respective outer ends projecting outward from the container and arranged on substantially the same plane as the outer lower surface of the container.
