    摘要: A photosensor with improved correction of image signals has a first photosensor portion including a plurality of photoelectric converting devices for reading an object and providing image signals thereof. A second photosensor portion includes a plurality of photoelectric converting devices and provides reference signals from light reflected from a reference member, or light received directly from a light source. Correction circuitry corrects the image signals from the first photosensor portion in accordance with the reference signals output from the second photosensor portion. Preferably, the photoelectric converting devices of the first and second photosensor portions are arranged in adjacent, parallel lines on the same substrate. Preferably, reference signals from the converting devices of the second photosensor are used by the correction circuitry to correct the electrical signals from substantially adjacent converting devices of the first photosensor portion. A single converting device of the second photosensor portion may be used to correct either one or more of the converting devices of the first photosensor portion.

    摘要: The form of a light condensing part of an illuminating device is of a freer form such as expressed by a general polynomial, rather than a round cross-sectional form. Accordingly, an illumination device or an image reading apparatus having the same which includes a light guide element having an entrance surface provided at one end thereof for an incident light flux, an exit surface provided on a side other than the one end extending in a longitudinal direction of the light guide element for allowing the incident light flux to exit therefrom, a reflecting and/or scattering area provided at a side other than the exit surface for reflecting and/or scattering the light flux propagated in a light-transmissive member, and a light condensing part provided on the exit surface for condensing the exiting light flux, and a light source provided adjacent to the entrance surface of the light guide element, wherein, assuming that in a cross-section orthogonally intersecting the longitudinal direction, a direction opposite to a normal line of the reflecting and/or scattering area is a z axis and a direction orthogonally intersecting the z axis is a y axis, at least a part of a surface of the light condensing part is expressed by a polynomial of y, and at least one of coefficients of odd-number-th degree terms in the polynomial is not “0”.

    摘要: There is an image reading apparatus for use in a facsimile apparatus, a copying machine or the like. This apparatus illuminates the light from a light source such as an LED array onto an original which is conveyed by a conveying device and thereby reading an image data on the original. To smoothly guide the edge of the original, an original guiding device which guides the original non-rippingly is provided downstream of the position where the original is read in the original conveying direction by the conveying device. As an original guiding device, a flat or concave guide surface, a flat or concave notch, original guide rollers, a guide member having a concave surface, or the like is provided. The guiding device may if desired be light-reflective.
