Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera, a distance sensor and a controller having at least one processor. Image data captured by the camera and sensor data captured by the distance sensor are processed at the controller. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, detects an object. The controller determines the distance to the detected object based at least in part on difference between the positions of the detected object in captured image data and in captured sensor data. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, and responsive to the determined distance to the detected object, determines that the detected object represents a collision risk. The controller alerts a driver of the vehicle of the collision risk and/or controls the vehicle to mitigate the collision risk.

Abstract: A vehicular backup assistance system includes a rear backup camera for a rear portion of any vehicle family member of a particular family of vehicles that includes a plurality of vehicle configurations, with each vehicle family member of the particular family of vehicles having a vehicle configuration that is different than the vehicle configuration of any other vehicle family member of the particular family of vehicles. A processor and a display are at a vehicle family member having the particular vehicle configuration of the particular family of vehicles. During a reversing maneuver, and based on the wheelbase of the particular vehicle configuration of the particular family of vehicles and based at least in part on a current steering angle of the vehicle family member, the processor generates a predicted vehicle trajectory that is displayed at the display as a dynamic overlay overlaying the images captured by the rear backup camera.

Abstract: A method for determining a trailer angle for a trailering assist system of a vehicle includes providing a rearward facing camera at a rearward portion of a vehicle and a control that processes image data captured by the camera. Responsive to processing by the processor of captured image data, a location of a portion of the trailer relative to the vehicle and a trailer angle of the trailer relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle are determined. During a reversing maneuver, a rearward trajectory of the trailer is determined and a graphic overlay may be generated to overlay displayed images to indicate the determined rearward trajectory. During forward travel, a degree of swing of the trailer may be determined and a threshold level of swing may be adjusted based at least in part on a speed of the vehicle and trailer and/or a load of the trailer.

Abstract: A vehicular driving assist system includes a forward-viewing camera and a side object detection system disposed at a vehicle equipped with the vehicular driving assist system. The side object detection system includes a driver side-sensing radar sensor and a passenger side-sensing radar sensor. Image data captured by the forward-viewing camera is processed to detect traffic lane markers for a lane departure warning system of the equipped vehicle. Responsive at least in part to one of the radar sensors detecting a vehicle travelling in the same direction as the equipped vehicle and approaching from rearward of the equipped vehicle in a traffic lane that is to the respective side of the traffic lane that the equipped vehicle is travelling in, the vehicular driving assist system alerts a driver of the equipped vehicle of presence of the detected vehicle regardless of turn signal usage by the driver of the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A method for providing backup assistance includes providing a rear backup camera and a processor at a vehicle, and storing a plurality of mathematical formulas in memory, with each stored formula associated with a respective vehicle wheelbase configuration. A wheelbase configuration input is provided that is representative of the wheelbase configuration of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part to the input, a mathematical formula is selected from the stored formulas. Responsive to a steering angle input, the processor selects a value to be input into the selected mathematical formula. During the reversing maneuver of the vehicle, a predicted vehicle trajectory overlay is generated by calculating, via the selected mathematical formula and using the selected value, an overlay representative of the predicted vehicle trajectory of the vehicle. The predicted vehicle trajectory overlay is superimposed over displayed video images for viewing by the driver of the vehicle during the reversing maneuver.

Abstract: A process for providing a vehicular camera suitable for vehicular use includes providing a front camera housing having a lens assembly disposed thereat and providing an imager disposed on a printed circuit board. An adhesive is disposed in its uncured state between the front camera housing and the printed circuit board. The front camera housing and said printed circuit board are adjusted relative to each other to achieve optical center-alignment and focusing of the lens optics relative to the imager. The adhesive is initially cured from its uncured state to an initially-cured state in an initial radiation curing process that includes exposure to UV light for a first time period. After optical center-alignment and focusing, the adhesive is further cured from the initially-cured state to a further more cured state in a secondary curing process undertaken for a second time period that is longer than the first time period.

Abstract: A human machine interface system for a vehicle includes a control and a user input actuatable by a user and associated with at least one accessory of a vehicle. The user input includes a touch screen having a deformable touch surface that is deformable to form a plurality of protruding user inputs. The user inputs of the touch surface are adjustable responsive to a proximity of the user's hand. Optionally, a plurality of speakers may be operable to generate respective audible outputs, with the speakers being disposed at the vehicle remote from the user input. The control, responsive to actuation by the user of the user input, controls the speakers to generate respective sounds at the speakers so that a resulting sound is perceived by the user to be originating at or near the user input.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a plurality of cameras that capture image data, at least one radar sensor that senses radar data and a control that processes image data captured by the cameras and sensed radar data. The control, responsive to processing of captured image data, detects lane markers and/or road edges and determines curvature of the road being traveled by the equipped vehicle. The control processes captured image data and sensed radar data to detect vehicles. The control, based on processing of captured image data and/or sensed radar data, detects another vehicle and determines distance from the equipped vehicle to the detected other vehicle. The control may, based at least in part on the detection of another vehicle and the determination of distance from the equipped vehicle to the detected other vehicle, determine whether it is safe for the equipped vehicle to execute a lane change maneuver.

Abstract: A driver assistance system for a vehicle includes a forward-viewing camera disposed in a windshield electronics module attached at a windshield of the vehicle and viewing through the windshield. A control includes a processor that, responsive to processing of captured image data, detects lane markers on a road being traveled by the vehicle. The processor determines curvature of the road being traveled by the vehicle and detects another vehicle that is present exterior of the equipped vehicle and determines that the detected other vehicle is in the same traffic lane as the equipped vehicle or is in an adjacent traffic lane. The processor processes captured image data to determine distance from the equipped vehicle to the detected other vehicle that is present exterior of the equipped vehicle and within the exterior field of view of the forward-viewing camera. The processor processes captured image data for vehicle speed control.

Abstract: A vehicular backing up assistance system includes a rearview camera at a rear portion of a vehicle, the vehicle being a vehicle family member of a particular family of pickup trucks. The system receives first input data that corresponds to the vehicle configuration of the vehicle. When the vehicle is backing up, the system receives second input data corresponding to steering angle of the vehicle. The system displays a predicted trajectory of the vehicle at the in-cabin display as an overlay overlaying the images captured by the rearview camera being displayed at the in-cabin display. The overlay comprises a pair of guidelines that are spaced apart and that are appropriate to (i) the wheelbase of the vehicle configuration of a plurality of vehicle configurations of the particular family of pickup trucks the rearview camera is mounted at and (ii) a current steering angle of the vehicle.
