Abstract: A polymer blend comprising from 20 to 90 parts by weight, based on the total weight of the polymer blend, polyvinyl chloride resin; and from 10 to 80 parts by weight, based on the total weight of the polymer blend, a flexible acrylic polymer is provided. Also provided are films or sheets or pipe made from the polymer blend, a capstock made from the film and a method for preparing a film.

Abstract: A sound damping composition comprises an acrylic vibrational damping polymer disposed on a surface of a filler. The acrylic vibrational damping polymer has a glass transition temperature, Tg, ranging from −60° C. to less than 10° C., as calculated by the Fox equation, and has a non-crosslinked component having a Tg less than −10° C. The weight ratio of the acrylic vibrational damping polymer to the filler is less than 1:1. A thermoplastic resin composition comprises the sound damping composition and a thermoplastic resin, where the sound damping composition is present in an amount of at least 10 wt % relative to the total weight of the thermoplastic resin composition. Articles produced from the resin composition are also disclosed.

Abstract: A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer comprises a polyvinyl. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25° C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Abstract: A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %. The composition also comprises (B) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %. Further, the composition comprises (C) an acrylic polymer additive in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %, the acrylic polymer additive selected from acrylic copolymers having a weight average molecular weight of at least 4,000,000 Da and a core-shell acrylic additive having a crosslinked core and a shell comprising an acrylic homopolymer or copolymer. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Abstract: Disclosed is a composition comprising a polyolefin and a core-shell acrylic polymer comprising a crosslinked core and a shell comprising a branched polymer. The branched polymer is a reaction product of reactants comprising one or more monoethylenically unsaturated ester monomers, a chain transfer agent in an amount of 0.1 to 15 weight percent, and a crosslinker in an amount of 0.1 to 15 weight percent of a crosslinker, wherein weight percent is based on total amount of reactants, provided the amount of crosslinker is within +/−5 weight percent of the amount of chain transfer agent, and wherein the crosslinker comprises at least two carbon-carbon double bonds having different reactivity. A method for preparing the composition is also disclosed.

Abstract: A multi-stage flexible acrylic resin comprises a branched polymer which is a reaction product of reactants comprising one or more monoethylenically unsaturated ester monomers, a chain transfer agent in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt. %, and a crosslinker in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt. %, wherein wt. % is based on total amount of reactants, provided the amount of crosslinker in moles is less than the amount of chain transfer agent in moles. A process for producing the multi-stage flexible acrylic resin is also disclosed.
