    摘要: To provide a wheel support bearing assembly, in which the rigidity of an outboard portion thereof can be increased without increasing the weight of the bearing assembly, the wheel support bearing assembly includes outer and inner members (1,2) and rows Lo and Li of rolling elements (7,8) interposed between outboard and inboard raceways (3 to 6) defined in the outer and inner members confronting each other. The inner member (2) includes a hub axle (18) having a wheel fitting flange (20) on an outboard side thereof, and an inner race member (19) mounted on an inboard end thereof. The hub axle has an outer diameter D1 measured at a point P intermediate between Lo and Li is greater than the minimum diameter D2 of the raceway (6) on the inboard side.     摘要: A bearing sealing device is provided between inner and outer members of a wheel support bearing assembly and includes an annular sealing plate of an L shaped section and an elastic sealing member having an elastic body secured to a core metal of a reverse L-shaped section. The sealing plate includes a cylindrical wall, mounted on an outer periphery of the inner member, and a radial wall extending upwardly from one end thereof. The core metal includes a cylindrical wall, mounted on an inner periphery of the outer member, and a radial upright wall extending radially inwardly from one end thereof. The elastic body includes two side sealing lips, arranged radially of the core metal and having their tips held in contact with the radial upright wall. The distance between those side sealing lips is chosen to be equal to or greater than 0.1 mm.

    摘要: A wheel support bearing assembly includes an outer member, an inner member and double row balls. The inner member includes a hub unit, which has a wheel mounting flange defined in an outer periphery thereof, and an inner ring mounted on the outer periphery of the inboard end of the hub unit. A shoulder is provided in an inner peripheral edge of the inboard end face of the inner ring. A crimped portion, engageable with a stepped face of the shoulder, is provided in the inboard end of the hub unit by diameter expansion. The crimped portion is formed by crimping such diameter expanded portion which is thin walled by providing a hub inner diameter setback in the inner periphery of the inboard end of the hub unit. This thin walled portion is positioned on a side inboardly of the straight line defining a ball contact angle in the inboard raceway surface.

A stepped portion is formed between an inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange and its base. The stepped portion is formed with a circular arc cross-section with a predetermined radius of curvature. An annular recessed portion is formed on an inner circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The recessed portion is arranged opposite to a corner edge of the stepped portion, via a small gap. The gap forms an annular labyrinth seal having a substantially “L” shaped cross-section.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has a double row angular ball bearing including double rows of ball groups. A pitch circle diameter of the double row ball group of the outer side is larger than a pitch circle diameter of the double row ball group of the inner side. The outer member is made of medium carbon steel including carbon of 0.40˜0.80% by weight. It is hardened by high frequency induction quenching so that each of the outer raceway surfaces is formed with a hardened layer having a surface hardness of 58˜64 HRC. The effective depth of hardened layer is set at at least 2 mm. The minimum wall thickness of the outer member at these outer raceway surfaces is set at at least 4 mm.

A collar ring (6) in contact with the large ends of the tapered rollers (4) of the outboard row is provided as a flange ring (6) separate from the hub axle (3) and fitted on the hub axle (3) at a position adjacent the hub flange (10).
