摘要: The display device operates in response to an information signal and comprises analog drive circuits in a two-dimensional array of rows and columns, an analog sampling circuit that derives the analog samples from the information signal, and a sample distribution circuit. The sample distribution circuit receives the analog samples from the analog sampling circuit and distributes them to the analog drive circuits. The sample distribution circuit includes input gates corresponding to the analog drive circuits, column busses corresponding to the columns of the array, and a row selector having outputs corresponding to the rows of the array. The column busses distribute the analog samples column-wise to the analog drive circuits. The input gates connect the analog drive circuits to the column busses. Each output of the row selector is connected to control the input gates in one of the rows. The row selector sequentially opens the input gates in the rows to select the analog samples on the column busses row-wise. A grey scale is generated by modulating light using an electro-optical material. An analog sample is derived from the information signal, a drive signal is generated in response to the analog sample, and the drive signal is applied to the electro-optical material. The drive signal generated in response to the analog sample includes a sequence of a first temporal portion having a time duration that has a pre-determined relationship to the analog sample, and a second temporal portion that is the temporal complement of the first.

摘要: Matched digital-to-analog conversions are performed in which, in each of N parallel channels, a digital input word is converted into a corresponding analog output. A digital sequence is generated, a time-varying analog signal having a predetermined relationship to the digital sequence is generated in response to the digital sequence, and the digital sequence and the time-varying analog signal are distributed to the N parallel channels. In each of the N parallel channels, the digital input word is digitally compared with the digital sequence, and, when the digital sequence is numerically equal to the digital input word, the time-varying analog signal is sampled to provide the analog output. The single time-varying analog signal derived from the single digital sequence at an operational speed at which high accuracy and low power consumption can be easily attained enables well-matched digital-to-analog conversions to be performed in any number of channels ranging from a few to many thousands.

摘要: A bucket brigade analog delay line with voltage limiting feedback includes an input stage for receiving an input signal and a series of delay stages coupled to the input stage for propagating the input signal through the line. Each delay stage contains a storage capacitor for holding either a signal charge or a reference charge, a transfer device for transferring charge from one stage to another at regular clock intervals, and a tap circuit for allowing external sampling of the propagated input signal. Each delay stage also includes a negative feedback amplifier for maintaining the drain terminal of the transfer device at a constant potential during charge transfer, thereby eliminating errors caused by finite output impedance of the transfer device. The negative feedback amplifier also prevents overvoltage conditions which could result in failure of the charge transfer devices.

摘要: A device and method rapidly quantifying the relative distention of the bladder of a human subject are disclosed. Ultrasonic transducer 1, which is positioned on subject 2 in proximity to bladder 16, is excited by pulser 3A under command of microprocessor 4 to launch an acoustic wave into patient 2. This wave interacts with bladder walls 12,13 and is reflected back to ultrasonic transducer 1, whence it is received, amplified, and processed by receiver 3B. The resulting signal is digitized by analog-to-digital converter 5 under command of microprocessor 4, and is stored in data memory 6B. The software in microprocessor 4 determines the relative distention of bladder 16 as a function of the propagated ultrasonic energy; and based on programmed scientific measurements and past history with the specific subject as contained in program memory 6A, sends out a signal to turn on any or all of the audible alarm 7, the visible alarm 8, the tactile alarm 9, and the remote wireless alarm 10.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for protecting charge storage elements from photo-induced currents in silicon integrated circuits are provided. In order to protect against photo-induced currents that are generated outside the storage node circuits themselves, an n-well guard ring is placed as closely as possible to the transistors and other elements in the storage node circuits. As a result there is a minimum of exposed silicon area in which light can produce current in areas next to the storage node circuits, and the n-well guard ring captures photo-induced currents that are generated outside the storage node circuits. In order to protect against the photo-induced currents that are generated inside the storage node circuits, an aluminum interconnect layer is placed on top of the storage node circuit, separated by an insulating layer of silicon dioxide. This creates a shield against the light and protects the storage node circuit by reflecting light away.

摘要: A method and device for tracking relative movement between the device and a region of interest include correlating a reference frame of signals with a subsequently acquired sample frame of signals, with the correlating including generating a correlation output for each of a number of nearest-neighbor shifts of signals of one of the frames. Preferably, the frames are comprised of a two-dimensional array of pixels and the signals are pixel values. The pixels of a frame are operatively associated with photoelements in a two-dimensional array of photoelements, with the pixel values being indicative of light energy received at the photoelements. By correlating the reference frame and the sample frame using the nearest-neighbor approach, it is possible to determine the movement of an imaged feature during the time period between acquisition of the reference frame and acquisition of the sample frame. In the preferred embodiment, the pixel values of the reference frame may be selectively shifted to correspond to the movement of the image feature, allowing the nearest-neighbor approach to continue even after the relative movement exceeds a pixel length. Also in the preferred embodiment, the device is a scanner having a second photoelement array. The second photoelement array captures image data which is position-tagged by navigation data acquired by means of the correlation of reference and sample frames.

摘要: A floating transducer drive configured to isolate relatively low voltage system electronics from a relatively high voltage transmit circuit in an ultrasound imaging system. A receive circuit is electrically connected to an isolated local ground. An isolation circuit is electrically connected between the receive circuit and a relatively low-voltage processing circuit. The isolation circuit is configured such that during a transmit event during which the relatively high voltage transmit circuit sends a relatively high voltage signal to a transducer, the isolated local ground is electrically connected to the transmit circuit, but when the transmit event is not occurring, the isolated local ground is electrically connected to a system ground.
