摘要: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for applying negative pressure to a wound site. In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises a source of negative pressure, a processing element, and a memory comprising instructions configured to, when executed on the processing element, cause the apparatus to attempt to generate, via the source of negative pressure, a desired negative pressure at the wound site. If the desired negative pressure has not been generated after a first predetermined period of time, the instructions cause the apparatus to: deactivate the source of negative pressure for a second predetermined period of time, and subsequently attempt to generate the desired negative pressure at the wound site.

摘要: Devices for treating fistulas may include a cap with a vacuum port, a spacer with a lumen therethrough, a first distal anchor, and a second distal anchor. The devices may be configured to transmit negative pressure through the vacuum port, the spacer lumen, and an opening in the first distal anchor to releasably seal the first and second distal anchors to tissue, thereby securing the devices in place. The first distal anchor may also include a plurality of openings that form vacuum pathways that transmit the negative pressure. The cap may also include a flush lumen, which may allow flushing of a fistula tract without removal of the device. Methods of treating fistulas may include applying negative pressure to a fistula treatment device to anchor the device and flushing a tract of the fistula using a flushing fluid with the fistula treatment device in-situ.

摘要: A manually-actuated pump for applying reduced-pressure therapy includes a charging chamber and a regulated chamber. The charging chamber has a closed end. A regulator passage extends between the charging chamber and the regulated chamber, and a valve body is adapted to control fluid communication through the regulator passage. A regulator spring is engaged with the valve body to bias the valve body against a differential between a pressure in the regulated chamber and an ambient pressure. The manually-actuated pump also includes an outlet port coupled to the regulated chamber; and a valve assembly coupled to the charging chamber to permit fluid flow through the closed end of the charging chamber.

摘要: The present invention, when used by a live actor, allows users to safely simulate hemorrhaging in some of the most challenging blood vessels in the most challenging anatomical locations such as the carotid artery, the axillary artery, and the inguinal artery. The present invention further provides the ability for users to safely perform hemorrhage control procedures, such as compression and ligation. The simulated wound of the present invention may be compressed to control hemorrhage. The simulated wound receptacle of the present invention may be packed with hemostatic or simple gauze to control hemorrhage. The simulated blood vessel of the device may be ligated with hemostats or other ligating instruments or material and bandaged with pressure dressings to control hemorrhage.

摘要: A reduced pressure dressing for applying reduced pressure treatment to a tissue site includes an interface layer adapted to be positioned at the tissue site. An absorbent layer is in fluid communication with the interface layer to absorb liquid from at least one of the interface layer and the tissue site. A pump is in fluid communication with the absorbent layer to deliver a reduced pressure to the tissue site. A cover is positioned over the pump, the absorbent layer, and the interface layer to maintain the reduced pressure at the tissue site, and a liquid-air separator is positioned between the absorbent layer and the pump to inhibit liquid from entering the pump.

摘要: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for providing reduced or negative pressure, and more particularly cyclical reduced pressure, to treat a wound. The system can include a wound dressing, a fluid collection container, a suction source, filters, and conduits. In addition, the system can include a control device and sensors. The sensors may be configured to monitor certain physiological conditions of a patient such as temperature, pressure, blood flow, blood oxygen saturation, pulse, cardiac cycle, and the like. Application of cyclical reduced pressure between two or more values below atmospheric pressure may be synchronized with the physiological conditions monitored by the sensors. Certain embodiments of the system utilize an air reservoir and one or more valves and pressure sensors or gauges to allow for rapid cycling of the level of reduced pressure within the wound dressing between two or more reduced pressure values.
