The present invention provides a method for continuously producing a diaryl carbonate stably for a long time with high productivity. The method for producing a diaryl carbonate according to the present invention comprises a step (1) of obtaining an alkylaryl carbonate; a step (2) of obtaining a reaction product from the alkylaryl carbonate; a step (3) of separating the diaryl carbonate and a high boiling component from the reaction product; and a step (4) of recycling the high boiling component into the steps (1) and/or (2), wherein the high boiling component recycled in the step (4) includes a particular compound, and the particular compound satisfies a particular condition.

A moisture-curable, silane-modified oil is disclosed. The silane-modified oil includes an unsaturated oil having at least one unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon chain per molecule of the unsaturated oil, and at least one hydrolysable silyl group grafted to the unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon chain. The silane-modified oil has a degree of unsaturation that is substantially similar that of the unsaturated oil. A process for forming the moisture-curable, silane-modified oil according to the disclosure includes reacting the unsaturated oil with an unsaturated hydrolysable silane in the presence of a free radical initiator. Also disclosed is a cured silane-modified oil which includes the reaction product of the silane-modified oil and water. Compositions according to the disclosure have relatively low viscosities (facilitating their application to a substrate) and have relatively high levels of silane grafting (resulting in non-leaching cured compositions with a high gel content).

This invention relates to an organotin-based catalyst system for polyurethane synthesis that is useful in coatings applications. The catalyst has low activity in the absence of oxygen. When a coating mixture comprising the catalyst is sprayed and/or applied to a substrate as a thin film in air, the catalyst is activated. For solvent-based refinish systems comprising hydroxyl and isocyanate species at high solids levels, the catalyst system therefore provides extended viscosity stability, i.e., pot life.

For an alkyltin alkoxide catalyst composition used in carbonate production, there is a problem that the alkyltin alkoxide catalyst composition is thermally decomposed by being heated in the production process, changing into an undistillable alkyltin alkoxide catalyst composition containing a high boiling deactivated component and an active component. The present invention provides a method for separating out and recovering the active component from the alkyltin alkoxide catalyst composition as a useful dialkyltin dialkoxide. According to the present invention, there is disclosed a method in which such an undistillable alkyltin alkoxide catalyst composition containing a high boiling deactivated component and an active component is reacted with an alcohol and/or a carbonate, so as to obtain a reaction liquid containing a product originating from the active component, and then the reaction liquid is subjected to distillation, so as to separate out and recover a dialkyltin dialkoxide from the product originating from the active component.
