Abstract: With abluminal side of a stent masked, the luminal side of the stent is selectively coated with a substance, such as an anti-coagulant, a platelet inhibitor and/or a pro-healing substance. The stent can be masked by inserting it into a rigid mandrel chamber or by compressing a masking sleeve onto the outer side of the stent. A spray nozzle inserted into the masked stent spray coats the substance onto the luminal side. The sprayed coating can be cured onto the stent such as by inserting an electrical-resistance heater bar into the stent.

Abstract: A system and method for coating an endoprosthesis involves an applicator capable of delivering a coating substance to the endoprosthesis without spraying. The applicator may have a tube or die through which a coating substance is moved upwards by capillary action or by means of a pump so as to form an accumulation of the coating substance at an upper portion of the applicator. The endoprosthesis can be lowered onto the accumulation, then axially translated or rotated in order to transfer the coating substance to selected portions of the endoprosthesis. The applicator is lowered and/or the endoprosthesis is raised in order to form gaps in the coating. Selective coating of abluminal or luminal surface of the endoprosthesis may also be performed by allowing the surface to skip on a liquid surface of a pool of the coating substance.

Abstract: The pipe treatment apparatus rotates a pipe to be treated, from the pipe exterior. The apparatus provides easy adaptation to varied pipe lengths and pipe diameters. The blast nozzle delivers blast media to the pipe interior to clean and prepare the interior for coating. The spray head delivers various chosen coatings to the pipe interior. The blast nozzle and spray head are easily installed and removed. The trolley and telescopic member with c-channel, along with the longitudinal drive motor with drive roller propel either the blast nozzle or spray nozzle into, within, and out of the pipe, as the rotational motor and transverse rollers turn the pipe from the pipe exterior. The apparatus therefore provides a basic design with which pipe can be both cleaned and coated within.

Abstract: A collapsible metal tube, comprising: a metal body portion susceptible of plastic deformation, the body portion being sealed at one end; a shoulder portion and a mouth/neck portion connected to the other end of the body portion; and a resin film provided on the inside wall surface of the body portion, the resin film comprising a metal-adhesive thermoplastic resin layer formed by spray-coating the inside wall surface of the body portion with a dispersion of fine spherical particles consisting of a metal-adhesive thermoplastic resin and then heating to integrate the particles. The resin film formed on the inside of the collapsible metal tube is reliable because it is a dense resin film virtually devoid of pinholes, excellent in elongation at break, and free from cracking when folded or deformed, and is excellent in ability of protecting the metal body portion and the contents.

Abstract: This invention relates to threaded fasteners, an apparatus for making such threaded fasteners and methods of fastening parts. The tip of the shank of a threaded fastener has at least one thread coated with a lubricating or masking material to reduce the drive torque necessary for fastening as well as provide a protective coating for the fastener during subsequent processing operations. The drill tip of the disclosed self-drilling fasteners is coated with a lubricating material to reduce drive torque and to eliminate binding when drilling through fibrous material. The present invention also prevents the build-up of corrosion inhibiting materials on threaded fasteners attached to parts to be fastened together. A masking and/or insulating material is first applied to the threaded fasteners attached to the parts to substantially prevent applied corrosion inhibitor from adhering to the threads of the fastener. A method of fastening parts, including fibrous material such as carpet or sound insulation, is also accomplished through practice of the present invention. The apparatus of the present invention provides a resin type stream entrained in a gaseous jet directed through a nozzle onto the threads of a fastener. The apparatus provides selectable thread coverage, including complete coverage of all threads.
