The heating device has at least one first radiation source which emits thermal radiation as well as at least one reflector device which reflects at least a proportion of the thermal radiation emitted by the radiation source in the direction of the plastic parisons. The reflector device has a first section with a substantially parabolically curved configuration as well as a second section with a curved configuration, of which the curvature progression differs from the curvature progression of the first section.

The container includes a 100% post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate polymer. The container has a mass to internal volume ratio of between about 0.04 grams per cubic centimeter and about 0.06 grams per cubic centimeter. A value of ΔE*ab is less than about 3.5 between the container and a reference container having the same dimensions as the container. The reference container is formed from a reference polymer including 50% virgin polyethylene terephthalate and 50% post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate.

Abstract:
A plastic container is provided that includes a hollow body portion including a lower supporting base portion; a sidewall portion extending upwardly from the base portion; and a neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall portion. The neck portion includes a support flange having an upper and lower surface, a tamper-evident formation, and a dispensing opening at the top of the neck portion. In an embodiment, the volume of the container is at least 500 ml; the weight of the neck portion is 3.0 grams or less; and the vertical distance from the top of the dispensing opening to the lower surface of the support flange, including the threads and the tamper-evident formation, is 0.580 inches or less. A preform and method for making a container are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Method of making a balloon catheter includes melt-extruding a thermoplastic polymeric material into a tube, cooling the extruded tube, placing the extruded tube within a capture member and biaxially orienting the polymeric material of the extruded tube while simultaneously tapering at least a section of the extruded tube by radially expanding the extruded tube with pressurized media in the tube lumen and axially expanding the extruded tube with an external load applied on at least one end of the tube as an external heat supply traverses longitudinally from a first end to a second end of the extruded tube in the capture member, wherein an overall axial load on the tubing is varied as at least a section of the tube is heated. The method includes cooling the expanded tube to form a tapered biaxially oriented nonporous thermoplastic polymer tubular member and sealingly securing a balloon proximate a distal end of the tubular member.
Abstract:
A method for producing a component for a blow molding module of a stretch blow molding machine which as a component to be produced includes at least one of a blow valve, a blow nozzle, a valve block, a stretching rod, a mold carrier, a shell mold one or more single- or multi-part mold inlay(s) with a container contour, and which entails that the component to be produced is completely or partly produced by use of an additive rapid prototyping method, for example by 3D printing or laser sintering, and is produced from one or more of metal, plastic materials, ceramic materials, or from a combination of metal, plastic materials and/or ceramic materials.
Abstract:
A foamed and stretched plastic bottle having, in the body portion thereof, a foamed region in which foamed cells are distributed, wherein, in at least a portion of the foamed region, the lengths of the foamed cells in the axial direction of the bottle are so distributed as to gradually decrease as the positions of the foamed cells shift from the outer surface side of the body portion toward the central portion thereof and then gradually increase as their positions shift from the central portion thereof toward the inner surface side thereof. The foamed and stretched plastic bottle of the invention exhibits excellent light-shielding property.
Abstract:
A cannula assembly having a retention member and a method of manufacture of the cannula assembly is provided. The cannula assembly includes a cannula and a sleeve disposed around the cannula from a proximal end to a distal end. The sleeve can be pre-formed by a stretch blow molding process then advanced over the cannula. The sleeve includes an inflatable balloon and an annular ring distal the inflatable balloon. The cannula includes an annular recess. The annular ring is sized to have an interference fit with the annular recess.
Abstract:
Use of optimized piston member for generating peak liquid pressure. A one-step hydraulic blow molding system and method for forming a preform and a liquid filled container from the preform. The machine and method include a sealing mechanism that forms a seal primarily utilizing compressive forces in an axial direction to prevent the leakage of liquid blow medium. The sealing mechanism includes an axial end face of a forming head and an upper axial surface of a neck ring.
Abstract:
A medical device includes a polymer scaffold crimped to a catheter having an expansion balloon. The scaffold has a morphology resulting from a biaxially expanded tube arranged to provide a more balanced, or less anisotropic axial and radial mechanical properties. The scaffold has improved mechanical properties suited for use as a balloon expandable scaffold implanted in a peripheral vessel of the body.
Abstract:
Stretch blow molded articles, e.g., thin wall containers, are made from a polymer blend comprising at least 70 percent by weight HDPE and at least 10 percent by weight LDPE based upon the total weight of the polymer blend. The HDPE/LDPE blends used in the practice of this invention provide increased melt strength resulting in a wider processing window.
