A series of individually cast and machined segments are mounted to the disc in side-by-side relation about the periphery of both sides of the disc. Each segment takes the shape of a truncated sector having a general nullLnull shape as viewed from an end, with a back or base engaging a side of the disc, and belt support elements extending laterally of the disc for engaging and supporting the track.

    摘要： Adjustable axle or similar telescoping structure includes an outer frame tube of square section which telescopingly receives an inner tube having a top shim-contacting surface, two parallel side surfaces, and a lower wall of inverted V-shaped section defining two additional downwardly directed shim-contacting surfaces. Three flat plates of a polymer material are supported between the three shim-contacting surfaces and the outer frame tube. One pad is attached to the upper surface on the inside of the outer tube. The remaining two pads are connected to a wedge-shaped steel bar and are oriented upwardly by the bar to contact the two shim-contacting surfaces on the inverted V-shaped section. The bottom wall of the outer frame tube is drilled and nuts are welded onto the outer surface to receive bolts which are screwed into the nuts to contact the bottom of the bar. When the bolts are tightened, they force the inner tube upward so it contacts the upper pad. Counter bores in the bottom of the bar prevent the bar from moving while axle length is being adjusted.

A pair of wedges extending between the plane surfaces of the gib and the axle are forced into wedging position by a bolt engaging both wedges. Reverse rotation of the bolt retracts the wedges for adjustment of the wheel.

    摘要： Arrangement for preventing relative rotation between a differential gear housing and an axle housing tube in a motor vehicle rear axle assembly. The differential gear housing, which may be made of cast non-weldable material, is provided with a sleeve-like portion in the direction of the axle, surrounding and supporting one end of the axle housing tube. According to the invention, the sleeve-like portion has an opening therein extending substantially radially inward. A pin-like device is arranged in the opening in contact with the sides thereof and is welded to the axle housing tube. This device thereby attaches the axle housing tube to the differential gear housing without the necessity of forming a weld with the differential gear housing.

A tire is mounted to the wheel and cooperates with the wheel to define a tire cavity between the radial outer surface of the rim portion and the tire. A foamed aluminum portion is supported by the wheel, and includes a plurality of pores arranged to define an open-cell foam. The plurality of pores of the foamed aluminum portion is disposed in fluid communication with the tire cavity to absorb noise from within the tire cavity. The foamed aluminum portion may be integrally cast with the wheel, or otherwise affixed to the wheel.
