Abstract:
In an elevator rope, an inner layer rope has: an inner layer rope fiber core; a plurality of inner layer strands; and a resin inner layer rope coating body that is coated onto an outer circumference. Inner layer strands are twisted together on an outer circumference of the inner layer rope fiber core. The inner layer strands have: an inner layer strand fiber core that is disposed centrally; and a plurality of steel inner layer strand wires that are twisted together on an outer circumference of the inner layer strand fiber core. In addition, a plurality of steel outer layer strands are twisted together on an outer circumference of the inner layer rope.
Abstract:
An exemplary assembly includes at least one elongated tension member (32). A jacket covers at least some of the tension member (32). The jacket comprises a polymer material (64, 68) including a friction stabilizer (62) that facilitates maintaining a desired friction characteristic of at least an exterior surface on the jacket.
Abstract:
An elevator support, such as a cable or a belt connected with an elevator car or counterweight, has load-bearing synthetic material strands, which are reinforced by the introduction of a second phase and have a higher modulus of elasticity than that of the unreinforced strands.
Abstract:
A synthetic fiber cable has the strands of a strand layer mutually spaced apart. With the mutual spacing, the strands of the outer strand layer can move radially in the direction of the cable center and exert a radial pressure on the strands of the first inner strand layer. The radial pressure is passed on from the strands of the first inner strand layer to the strands of the second inner strand layer. The radial pressure is passed on from the strands of the second inner strand layer to the core strand. The radial pressure increases inwardly from strand layer to strand layer. The soft cable sheathing does not act as a support between the strands in circumferential direction.
Abstract:
A load bearing member (22) useful in an elevator system (10) includes at least one elongated tension member (36), a conversion coating (46) on the elongated tension member (36), and a polymer jacket (34) at least partially surrounding the coated elongated tension member (36). In one example, the conversion coating (46) includes at least one of an oxide, a phosphate, or a chromate.
Abstract:
A method of making a load bearing member (30) for an elevator system (20) includes placing at least one tension member (32) adjacent one side (60) of a first layer (36) of a polymer material. A second layer (38), comprising a urethane in a disclosed example, is added adjacent to at least the one side (60) of the first layer (36) such that the tension member (32) is between the first layer (36) and the second layer (38). Such a technique allows for eliminating the bridges typically used to support the tension members in molding devices. Eliminating such bridges eliminates the resulting grooves associated with previous arrangements. Providing a grooveless exterior on the jacket (34) of the load bearing member (30) eliminates a significant source of potential vibration and noise in an elevator system.
Abstract:
An elevator support for an elevator system includes a base body, a drive side with at least one drive rib, a deflecting side opposite the drive side with at least one guide rib, and a tensile carrier arrangement arranged in the base body. The guide rib has a greater flank height and/or a greater flank width than the drive rib. A ratio of the flank height of the guide rib to the width of the elevator support is at least 0.4. A respective guide rib is associated with at most three of the drive ribs.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rope and belt for a speed governor for elevators and associated sheaves that is applicable to speed governors for elevators. The rope comprises high-strength steel wires clustered in strands among which a core is in turn formed which is completely coated by a polymeric material which is introduced in the gaps defined between the strands, obtaining an outer polymeric surface with a diameter that is slightly greater than the diameter of the core. The belts cluster at least two metallic ropes comprising high-strength steel wires completely coated with a polymeric material. The sheaves designed for the ropes are semicircular or notched semicircular sheaves having a low aggression and reduced diameter and high level of adherence, determining a high coefficient of friction between the coated rope and the sheave, and a high strength of the rope against fatigue due to bending and wear is also obtained.

Abstract:
An elevator includes a car, a counterweight, a suspension working together with the car and the counterweight, and a wheel at least partially wound around by the suspension. The suspension includes a tie beam arrangement with two tie beams and an encasing shell wherein a ratio of the width of the suspension to the height thereof is in a range between one and three. The wheel includes a flute having a flat base for guiding the suspension. When the suspension is unloaded, there is an air gap between the suspension and a guide region of the flute. The suspension is ovalized under loading to close the air gap. The shell is coated, at least in areas, on the outer surface thereof, wherein the coating optionally has a friction-reducing, friction-increasing, and/or wear-detecting effect.
